2 Kid & Tween Programs livoniapubliclibrary.org/kids STORYTIME PROGRAMS Children s storytime and music programs are open to all children. All children younger than three years old must be accompanied by an adult (one child per adult), unless otherwise specified. Space is limited so register early! Registration begins Tuesday, September 4. Register for storytimes in person or by phone. BABY STORYTIME* Ages 12 to 23 months with parent or loving caregiver. Songs, simple stories, and other activities that introduce our youngest patrons to the pleasures of the library. Registration required. Participants will also learn about books and movies the library has for friends of fairies (Disney and otherwise) and play some Fairy, Elf, and Leprechaun games! Come in costume if you like. Find all 6 of them, tell a librarian, and get a sticker or bookmark to take home! POTTER PALOOZA!* All ages welcome. Harry Potter fans of all ages are invited to attend POTTER PALOOZA, a day-long Harry Potter festival! Saturday, October a.m. to 4 p.m. HAUNTED LIBRARY Join us at a haunted Noble library for a fun, family-friendly event with trick or treat stations, crafts, games, teen cosplay contest, and a special presentation of live creepy Michigan animals by Nature Discovery at 6:30 p.m. Monday October p.m. September Hunt: Eric Carle characters October Hunt: Goosebumps SEPTEMBER IS LIBRARY CARD SIGN UP MONTH The Livonia Public Library wants to make sure that every Livonia child has the most important school supply of all a library card. Every child who signs up for a library card (at any branch of the Livonia Public Library) during the month of September will receive a FREE book BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN* It s easy to participate in this FREE program which encourages parents to read 1,000 books with their Preschoolers. Mark off the books you have read on your reading log. When you reach 100, show us your log to receive your prize and your new reading log. As children reach their milestones, their names will be displayed in the Livonia Public Libraries on our walls of fame. Come in and sign up today! You will get your log when you register, or you can download the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten iphone App. *Registration required. 4 Teen Programs TEEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE Join our Teen Advisory Committee and offer input to Teen Service Librarians on our Teen collections and programs. Enjoy snacks, meet other like-minded Teens, gain valuable organizational experience and leadership skills, and fulfill various community service obligations. Interested Teens can come to our meetings at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Bennett Civic Center Branch meeting rooms. Volunteer credits available. Please note: the October meeting is on the second Thursday of the month. Thursdays, September 6 and October TEEN BOOK CLUB* Join us for a monthly Teen Book Club where we will discuss our favorite teen fiction! Participants will receive their own copy of each month s book. Registration required. GIRLS WHO CODE* Girls (including those who identify as girls) are invited to join our weekly Girls Who Code Club running September 22- December 15. The Club meets in the 3rd floor conference Room. MI Bad includes stories from the 1800s, including a train robbery that resulted in a two-state manhunt, trigger-happy vigilantes in the Great Depression, and what may be the last stagecoach robbery east of the Mississippi. Tuesday, September 18 AMAZING CHIMNEY SWIFTS Chimney Swifts are incredible birds whose long-distance migrations take them from the US to South America and back every year. These birds visit the Detroit area during their migration, and thousands of them spend the evening in a local historic chimney--it is one of the largest roosts of Chimney Swifts in North America! Join Detroit Audubon for a presentation on these unique visitors.
