1 2018 CORPORATE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Sweetheart Dance for our Seniors Wednesday, February 14, 2018 Love is eternal! Let s celebrate it with our seniors. On Valentine s Day, you will decorate the venue, lead Valentine s Day games and host the dance by dancing with the program participants. Volunteers Required: 8-10 Date: Wednesday, February 14, 2018 Time: 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Senior Program: Casino Game/Craft Day For Seniors March 2018 The Adult Day Health Care Program of Lighthouse Guild needs a team of 10 volunteers to help our visually impaired senior citizens by engaging them in activities that create physical, mental, and creative stimuli. The Adult Day Health Care program provides support to people with a diagnosed chronic medical condition, and a functional vision problem. The support includes companionship, activities, nutrition, healthcare and therapy. We need a team of volunteers to assist the staff create a special day and manage a combination of activities which physically, mentally and creatively challenge them as well as gives them that special day to look forward to. In the winter or spring, we would like to have a casino game day complete with horse racing, roulette, black jack and the like. For the seniors. The activity would take place between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Financial Contribution: $1,225 Date: Flexible Time: 10:00 AM 3:00 PM Location: 250 West 64 th West End Avenue.

2 2 Jazz At Lincoln Center for The Heilbrunn Students March 23, 2018 The students of the Heilbrunn School would like to take a trip to Jazz at Lincoln Center s Who is Mary Lou Williams performance. Volunteers would serve as sighted guides and help the students navigate while traveling and serve as a buddy and enjoy the performance with the student. Confirmation needed by the end of January. Volunteers Required: 8-10 Date: March 23, 2018 Time: 10:30 am - 3:00 pm Senior Olympics May 2017 The Adult Day Health Care Program would like to have a Senior Olympics. This will be a day of fun activities of various levels where seniors will compete with their peers. The Adult Day Health Care program provides support to people with a diagnosed chronic medical condition, and a functional vision problem. The support includes companionship, activities, nutrition, healthcare and therapy. A team of volunteers is needed to support this event by running the activities and coordinating the competitions and the awards ceremony. Volunteers Required: 12 Date: May 2017 (date is flexible) Time: 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Concert at the MET May 11 and 18, 2018 Lighthouse Guild s music school is proud to display the talents of their students at the Annual Lighthouse Guild at the MET Concert. Volunteers are needed to serve as sighted guides and back stage assistants to support the performers. Participation in this event will require attending the dress rehearsal and the Concert. Financial contribution: None Volunteers Required: 20 Date: Dress Rehearsal - Friday, May 11, 2018; Concert - Friday May 18, 2018 Time: Dress Rehearsal 5:30 pm 8:30 pm; Concert 5:00 pm 9:00 pm Location: Dress Rehearsal (TBD); Concert - Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, N.Y

3 3 Hollywood Glam Prom Day with Teens June 2018 (TBD) The Harriett and Robert Heilbrunn School needs a team of 8 volunteers to assist the staff by creating a special Hollywood Glam High School Prom. The Heilbrunn School provides students ages five to 21, who are blind, visually impaired, deaf/blind, and have additional severe disabilities with education and therapeutic services. The team of volunteers would dress up with the students dance and otherwise celebrate this milestone achievement. Volunteers Required: 8 Date: June 2018 (TBD) Time: 11:00 AM 3:00 PM Got Talent? How About Entertaining Seniors? June 2018 (Date Flexible) Is there a dancer, singer or other performer in you yearning to break free? This may be your chance. We are interested in having an integrated variety show for our Adult Day Health Care Program. Our seniors will perform as well. Your team would come ready to perform. We can arrange a two hour show in the morning or a one hour show in the afternoon with time before and after for escorting the seniors to the venue, event set up, event breakdown and if necessary escorting seniors back to the center. Financial Contribution: $ 200 Volunteers Required: 8-15 depending upon the number of performances. Date: Flexible Time: Either 9:30 am 1:00 pm or 12:00 pm 3:00 pm Spa Day for our Seniors August 2018 When you are a senior with vision loss and chronic conditions, anytime is a good time for a spa day! We are creating an integrated volunteer day of pampering and are asking for your support to help make this event a reality by providing a team of volunteers to serve as sighted guides, host activities and serve refreshments between spa appointments and more during a day of beauty and wellness. Financial Contribution: $ 500 Volunteers Required: 7 Date: August 2018 (date is flexible) Time: 9:00 AM 12:30 PM Location: Lighthouse Guild, 250 West 64 th West End Avenue

4 4 Career Preparation Mock Interviews: February, April, October & December 2018 Our Career Services program provides training and assistance for visually impaired people who are looking for a job. An important part of this service is preparing clients for the interview including practicing traveling to an unfamiliar location for the interview. We are looking for a group of corporate volunteers who are willing to conduct mock interviews for these program participants at their place of work. Each session consists of approximately six participants. At most we would require one staff person per student for the mock interviews which would take no longer than 30 minutes each. At most 6 staff members or at least 2 or 3 staff persons would conduct more than one interview. The event can end with a 30 minute debrief for a greater learning experience. The students would be accompanied by 2-3 Career Services Counselors. Financial Contribution: None Volunteers Required: 6 Date: 4 times annually Time: TBD Location: Your corporate office Halloween Activities ~ Heilbrunn School October 31, 2018 Participate in craft workshops, trick-or-treating, lunch and more, with the students from the Heilbrunn School. Come in your corporate t-shirt or your best costume to participate in the fun! This will be an opportunity to work one on one with students who are visually impaired and have other disabilities and create a memorable Halloween experience! Financial Contribution: $800 Date: October 31, 2018 Time: 9:00 am 2:00 pm Halloween Party ~ Seniors October 31, 2018 Have a ghoulish good time with our seniors as a sponsor for the annual Halloween Party! You will host spooky activities, provide light refreshments, dance with them on the dance floor, judge the costume contest and more. Financial Contribution: $1000 Date: October 31, 2018 Time: 9:30 am 2:00 pm

5 5 Turkey Trot November 19, 2018 Celebrate Thanksgiving with the participants in our Adult Day Health Center Volunteers will help with the activities planned for the participants of the program such as their famous "turkey race"; "pin the waddle on the turkey"; "the turkey shoot and turkey throw", and much, much more. Volunteers will also help guide the participants from one location to another, and assist the program staff with the lunch service. Financial Contribution: $200 Volunteers Required: 8 Date: November 19, 2018 Time: 10:00 am 2:30 pm A-Caroling We Go December 2018 (To Be Determined) Under the leadership of Dr. Leslie Jones and the direction of Dr. Dalia Sakas, members of the Music School ensemble visit local businesses and corporations to delight employees and passersby with warmth and cheer as the ensemble members sing holiday carols. Volunteers are needed as sighted guides to assist the ensemble members as they navigate various venues in midtown Manhattan. If your team would like to volunteer for this event, you will need to attend sighted-guide training. Date: December 2018 Time: 10:45 am -5:00 pm (must be able to do the entire tour) Place: Lighthouse Guild (all volunteers meet at Lighthouse Guild) 250 West 64 th West End Avenue. Human guide training is required for participation in this event. We can work with you to identify the best time to conduct the training (date TBD.) Lighthouse Guild Annual Holiday Celebration December 2018 Make the Holiday season brighter for the children in the Heilbrunn School and/or our seniors in the Adult Day Health Care Program. We invite corporate and community volunteer groups as well as individual volunteers to sponsor a student or senior and provide a personalized gift package for each. The candidates identifying information is provided at the time of sponsorship. To sponsor a student or senior, contact Sharon Montrose at MontroseS@lighthouseguild.org. 6 6 Reading Program: Bring the Reading program to Your Location ~ (Weekdays) On Going Do you want to bring an on-going service opportunity to your company? The Reading Services Program is looking for locations for visually impaired adults to have 1 or 2 hour reading sessions with a volunteer. The mission of this program is to ensure that printed material-for personal, educational or professional use is accessible to people who are visually impaired. The client will provide the reading material. The content can range from personal mail to newspapers, magazines, mail books, and textbooks, class notes and research materials and a wide variety of business documents. To participate, the company must provide a private space for the reading pair to read that is available at the same time each week. Access to a computer, printer or WiFi is ideal. The minimum commitment is six months. VISONARY PARTNERS PROGRAM Lighthouse Guild s Visionary Partner Program offers numerous levels by which corporations can have an immediate, positive impact on the lives of people who are visually impaired. Yoga instruction for students with multiple disabilities in the Heilbrunn School Yoga is a valuable tool that is beneficial to practitioners on a physical, mental and emotional levels. It fosters independence, curiosity and respect for their bodies and stimulates their life force. The School would like to periodically conduct these session for the students. Donation: $210 per 3.5 hour session Music Education with Lincoln Center for the teens in the Saturday Youth Transition Program - Through musical performances Lincoln Center Education s mission is to enrich the lives of students by providing opportunities for engagement with the arts onstage, in the classroom, digitally, and in the community. Donation: TBD Art Farm at the Heilbrunn School create an opportunity for visually impaired students to have up-close encounters with chinchillas, lizards, frogs, rabbits, turtles and many other amazing animals! Donation: $1,440 for three visits. Thank you for your generous corporate and volunteer support!
