The Week of Science includes: Friday, September 30, 9 AM 5 PM School Preview Day, Science Museum of Western Virginia, Roanoke, VA Area schools are invited to visit downtown Roanoke for a preview of the science festival. Visit the Science Museum of Western Virginia and other downtown spaces including the Taubman Museum of Art, O. Winston Link Museum, Virginia Museum of Transportation, Jefferson College of Health Sciences, the Jefferson Center, and Center in the Square. Saturday, October 1, 10 AM 4 PM Maker Festival, Northern Virginia Center, 7054 Haycock Rd., Falls Church, VA Visit the Northern Virginia Center for a taste of the maker experience. Get ready for hands-on experiences, live performances, and interactive demonstrations that will inspire a wonder in science for all ages! Get hands on and minds on. Sunday, October 2 Monday, October 3 Southwest Virginia STEM Summit, Blacksburg, VA The third annual Southwest Virginia STEM Summit is a conference open to all as an opportunity to share outstanding and innovative STEM programs, build and expand strong partnerships, and promote high quality STEM education in Southwest Virginia and beyond. Saturday, October 8, 10 AM 3 PM Science Festival,, Blacksburg, VA Science is bigger than you think! Visit hands-on exhibits hosted by researchers from all kinds of science at the Moss Arts Center, College Avenue, Newman Library and outdoor spaces in between. Learn about STEM careers and problems for solving. partners for the festival include the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT), the Center for Research in SEAD Education, the College of Science, Virginia Cooperative Extension, University Libraries, Continuing and Professional Education, College Access Collaborative, and the Biocomplexity Institute of, among others, to coordinate a range of exciting and informative activities for festival-goers.
