2 North Carolina Hospitality Education Foundation (NC HEF) is the philanthropic foundation of the NC Restaurant & Lodging Association and exist to enhance the hospitality industry s service to the public through education, community engagement and promotion of career opportunities. ProStart is a nationwide, two-year school-to-career program for high school students that develops the best and brightest talent into tomorrow s industry leaders. From culinary techniques to management skills, ProStart s industry-driven curriculum provides real-world educational opportunities and builds practical skills and a foundation that will last a lifetime. ProStart in NC reaches over 1300 students, across 20 counties. Nationwide ProStart reaches over 95,000 students. North Carolina ProStart Invitational (NCPI) is a high school competition focused on restaurant management and culinary arts. Student competitors put their skills to the test in front of industry leaders, family and friends -- all with an eye on scholarships to pursue further industry education. The NCPI is composed of two distinct competitions: management and culinary. Culinary Arts Competition The culinary competition highlights the creative abilities of each team through the preparation of a three-course meal in 60 minutes, using only two burners with no access to running water or electricity. There is no room for error as teams are evaluated on taste, skill, teamwork, safety and sanitation. Management Competition Management teams develop a proposal for the next hot restaurant concept and present it to a panel of industry judges. Next, their ability to think on their feet is tested as they quickly solve challenges managers face on a daily basis. Competition Rewards: The top three ranking teams from the culinary and management competition are rewarded medals and generous educational scholarships to help further their careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry. The first place teams receive a team trophy for display in their high school and will represent North Carolina at the National ProStart Invitational in Anaheim, California April 18-20, Last year winning teams brought home scholarships totaling more than $1.4 million. In addition, all competitors are encouraged to take full advantage of competing by networking with other students and industry professionals in attendance. This sponsorship entitles you to the following: Eight registrations to the NCPI competition; vendor table during the event; opportunity to co-present the awards to the high school students. Your color logo on all promotional material, recognition from the podium at all events; recognition in the NCRLA electronic newsletter and website; embroidered logo on national team uniforms (ProStart Chef Coats, Golf Shirts). Silver Sponsor: $5,000** Commitment at this level demonstrates your financial support for the educational program conducted by NC HEF. This sponsorship entitles you to the following: Four registrations to the NCPI competition; vendor table during the event; your color logo on all promotional material, recognition from the podium at all events; recognition in the NCRLA electronic newsletter and website; embroidered logo on national team uniforms (ProStart Chef Coats, Golf Shirts).
