1 2017 Summer Instructional Programs Student Success Initiative (SSI) Grade 5 Program Focus: Students will receive TEKS-focused instruction in math and/or reading in preparation for the third administration of the 5th grade Reading/Math STAAR test on June Make-Up STAAR test (June 21-22) Dates: June 6 - June 22 (Monday - Thursday) Hours: 8:00 a.m. 12:45 p.m.(8:00-2:00 pm on STAAR Test Days(June ONLY) Location: Ochoa STEM Milam Eligibility: 5th grade students who have not passed 2017 Reading/Math STAAR test. 2 3rd Grade ELL Summer Language Academy Program Focus: Provide current 2 nd grade (entering 3 rd grade) ELL students additional English support for those who are performing at a beginning or Intermediate level in English based on TELPAS Dates: June 6 - June 29 (Monday - Thursday) Hours: 8:00 a.m. 3:20 p.m. Location: Seguin Elementary Eligibility: GPISD English Language Learners (ELL) entering 3 rd for school year. 3 American Indian Summer Enrichment Program Program Focus: This program is designed to address the unique education and culturally related academic needs of American Indian and Alaska Native students, grades Pre-K-12. Dates: June 6 - Jun 15 (Monday - Thursday) Hours: 8:00 a.m. 3:20 pm Location: Seguin Elementary Eligibility: Current American Indian students grades Pk-12 Program Contact: Monica Smith monica.smith@gpisd.org Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Program (Elementary and Secondary) Extended School Year (ESY) Services through Special Education Program Focus: Students receive instruction aligned with goals in their Individual Education Plans (IEP). Dates: June 5-15 Hours: 8:00 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Location: South Grand Prairie High School-Lobby Gym Contact: Angela Herron Camp Invention/Middle School STEM Camp Program Focus: Provide a creative, STEM-focused summer enrichment program for rising 1 st through 7 th graders. The Camp Invention program invites children to explore, understand and solve real-world problems in fun and imaginative ways that focus on science, technology, engineering, and math. Presentation skills and teamwork will be highlighted. This camp is for students entering 4 th -8 th for school year.
