2 MISSION HISTORICAL MUSEUM 900 Doherty Ave. / Mission, Texas / (956) Parents Must Accompany Children To All Events Celebrate The goal of our programs is to provide children with a unique experience to learn about early Mission and our regional culture. MHM summer programs are for kids ages Parents must accompany children at all events. There must be at least one guardian per every four kids in attendance. Registration begins May 1 and ends May 26. Space is limited. Each program is $10 for nonmembers or $5 for members. Museum Family Memberships may be purchased for $50 for the year, which includes up to four kids per family. Any additional kids per family may purchase a $10 student membership. 7 MISSION SUMMER ARCHERY PROGRAM The youth will be taught archery by certified archery instructors. The instructor is certified by USA Archery and NFAA. Archery instills confidence, greater attention spans, and a willingness to try other sport activities. Site: Mission Skeet & Trap Club For information call: Reyes Cortez The archery program will be taught for two (2) sessions of 4 week periods of three days during the week, (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) as follows. 5 to 12 years old from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM 13 to 18 years old from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Adults (19+) from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday & Thursday Fees: 5 12 age group $100 per child for the 4 week program age group $100 per child for the 4 week program Adults (19+) $150 per adult for the 4 week program PAYABLE TO INSTRUCTOR Fees are nonrefundable. Participants must follow rules and not damage or disrespect property. Participants who do not follow rules as determined by the instructors can be terminated immediately at any time. Session I: June 15 Registration: June 2 Session II: July 10 Registration: July 7 ROLLIE S COUNTRY DANCE CLASSES What to expect: During a lesson the dance style will be broken down and explained to it s fullest. A wide variety of spins, dips and combinations are available and range from basic to advanced. Every lesson is unique and personalized to the dancer(s). At the end of each lesson there will be an opportunity to record what you ve learned so that you have your own personal reference to practice with. When you walk out of the lesson you will feel accomplished and excited to try out your new style. This camp is designed to help young players develop athletically. Come out and improve your skills or learn a new sport. Fee: $30 for 2 days 1 session. 1 1/2 hrs. 8 THE POSITIIVE PLACE FOR KIDS City of Mission BOYS AND GIRLS OF MISSION 209 W. 18th Street / P.O. Box 2257 / Mission, Texas / (956) SUMMER PROGRAM The Boys and Girls Club of Mission will be registering for its Summer Program on May 1, 2017 beginning at 8:00 a.m. All members will be subjected to a structured environment where emphasis will be placed on academic development and healthy lifestyles. Each member will be rotating throughout the day to various activities including Reading, Math, Healthy Lifestyles/Choices, Arts and Crafts and Recreational activities. Furthermore, each member will receive Breakfast and Lunch throughout the day (Except for the one-half day programs, they will receive lunch only). This summer will see various changes and hopefully, a more positive experience for your children. We will have several camps planned-out throughout the summer. Each camp will be advertised ahead of time so that you may have the opportunity to enroll your child (children) in plenty of time. Also, we still have our ever popular field-trips to the Ice Skating Rink, Swimming Pools, s and Nature Walks all summer long. Listed below are the specific schedules and timelines for each unit. Be advised that all dues must be paid before the first day of the Summer Program. All times for drop-off and pick-up must be strictly enforced. A Membership Registration must be on file and all signatures and initials have to be in place before your child may attend. V. and Bannworth Units: Begin: June 12, 2017 and Ends July 21, 2017 (BGCM will be CLOSED Tuesday, July 4, 2017) : 1 to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Thursday Ages 5 thru 12 years old; $55.00/member (6 weeks) Main Unit: Begin: June 12, 2017 and Ends August 25, 2017 (BGCM will be CLOSED Tuesday, July 4, 2017) : 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday Ages 5 thru 12 years old; $110.00/member (11 weeks) It is strongly encouraged to dress your child in comfortable clothing and footwear. All members will be required to participate in Physical Fitness activities and will be moving from station to station throughout the day. Thank you. 8
9 SHARY GOLF COURSE J UNI OR GOLF PROGR AM 2017 Welcome to the 2017 Shary Municipal Golf Course Junior Golf Program. The Junior Golf Program is taught by the Golf Course Staff and includes all facets of the game of Golf. The program will begin on June 5th, 2017 and through July 28th, Children from the ages of 10 to 18 will start classes at 8:00 A.M. and will end at 12:00 P.M. Note: Junior golfers under the age of 10 and who have completed Little Linksters certification can be allowed in this group. Children from the ages 6 to 9 will participate from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., on Wednesday s and Friday s. The Junior Golf Program will include teaching of the swing, short game, putting, playing the game and rules. Junior golfers will need their own equipment to participate in the program. Junior golfers will be put into different classes each day and will be taught specifics of the game. i.e. classes will be on the driving range, putting green, chipping area and classroom (for rules) each day. Fees for the Junior Golf Program are: Resident: Non-Resident: Payable to City of Mission Shary Golf Course 6-9 Age Group $50.00 per child (Maximum of $ immediate family) Age Group $ per child (Maximum of immediate family) 6-9 Age Group $75.00 per child (Maximum of $ immediate family) Age Group per child (Maximum of $ immediate family) Fees are non refundable and any child participating that does not abide by the rules as determined by Golf Coaches and Golf Professional is subject to being terminated from the program at any time that is deemed necessary. Registration will be start on May 31st thru June 2nd, 2017 from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon A parent must accompany child during registration. Another program that junior golfers will be encouraged to participate in is the Rio Grande Valley Junior Golf Tournament Program; tournaments are scheduled on Wednesday and Friday mornings at different golf courses though out the Valley. A schedule can be viewed at At registration parents will also be briefed on the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) games scheduled in the last week of July in McAllen, Texas.
