A SMP meeting was held on 05 May at Lake O Neill. The SMP Member at Large called the meeting to order at List of those in attendance is provided on the sign in sheet (attachment 1). 2. Dolores Perez MCCS Lake O Neill Talked about Lake O Neill and its offerings. Boats and paddle boats are available for rent Friday Sunday. Here are a11 covered picnic areas that can be checked out. Ben Payano Bachelor Housing Talked about the importance of reporting issues for the barracks. Talked about the BAH process. Asked if there were any questions or issues to report. No issues were brought forth. For more information on any barracks issues or questions (760) Heather Williams MCCS Health Promotion Talked about 101 Days of Summer competition. This is a series of one day events that promote safety. Units can compete in this summer long event and win money towards Unit Recreation Funds. For more information, log onto mccscp.com/health or call Faith Frey- MCCS Youth Sports Talked about the following upcoming events Youth Sports Coaches registration begins on 20 June. All volunteer coaches will receive an LOA for 112 hours. For more information on Youth Sports, call CG s Cup Golf Tournament on 10 May at Marine Memorial Golf Course. Organization Date(s) & Times POC Contact Information Notes Santa Margarita Trail Cleaning 5 May Donna Gebhart (760) d_gebhart@pacbell.net The Fallbrook Trails Council maintains the trails in the Santa Margarita River area for over 30,000 hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. There are over 14 miles of hiking trails in the area. We use weed whips, hedgers, chainsaws, and rakes. We ask the volunteers to be able to use power tools which we supply, and also long hedgers. We usually only work 3 to 4 hours because of the type of work. We have volunteers that can lead crews during the week as well. If a crew is present, we provide lunch and a LOA. Volunteers that work the entire work day that are also stationed at MCB Camp Pendleton, MCAS Miramar, and MCAGCC 29 Palms will also get $10 per Volunteer towards Unit and Family Readiness Funds. This is a High School Boys Varsity program that will be competing in the Pacific Lacrosse League (PLL) for the upcoming 2016 season. The season runs February through May, with practices on weeknights from 7-9PM in the Vista High School Stadium in Vista, CA. Games will be scheduled on weekend (usually Saturdays). Practices will be scheduled to begin in December. There is an existing core group of players with lacrosse experience, and a large number of non-lacrosse athletes ready to give the sport a try. Previous coaching experience is desired, but not required. Previous high school playing experience required, college playing experience preferred. Stipend available to cover expenses. Big Brothers, Big Sisters of San Diego Mondays or Wednesdays or Cory Schurlock Tuesdays - CoryS@SDBigs.org or Thursdays Big Brother Big Sisters of San Diego is looking for active duty and civilian volunteers for our Operation Bigs program which takes place on all 5 elementary schools on Camp Pendleton. In our program, the Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers meet with their Little Brothers and Little Sisters for one hour one day a week (times and dates are the same every week) at the child s school site. During that hour the Big and Little matches do activities such as play board games, do arts and crafts projects, or just run around outside, playing ball, throwing Frisbees, jumping rope, and other fun activities! We offer comfortably furnished rooms with bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living, dining, laundry and play rooms. The home provides free temporary lodging so military families can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis. Fisher House is available to families of active duty, retired and veterans from all services including the National Guard and Coast Guard. Our Fisher House has a full-time staff but depends on volunteers and voluntary support to enhance daily operations and program expansion. If so, this could be a great opportunity for you. This group helps teens with special needs (such as autism) learn the dynamics of building friendships, social skills and self-expression through fresh and creative avenues. Drawing on peers and professionals from the music community, this group experiences music recording, instrument exploration, improvisational songwriting, drumming and other projects based on the interests and needs of the group. This pilot program will involve a total of 6 jam sessions, and volunteers (peer mentors) must be able to attend all six sessions to sign up. Each Jam Session will feature a special rock star guest musician and will be facilitated by board-certified music therapists. Peer mentor will help nurture inclusion opportunities for this special group. Each peer mentor will be paired with a teen as a buddy for the duration of the six sessions and must attend a mandatory training session prior to the first group. This opportunity will be once a month on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm starting in the fall of 2012.
