1 2017 SUMMER PROGRAMS IMPORTANT BASEBALL DATES REGISTRATION BEGINS April 1 REGISTRATION DEADLINE May 15 FIRST WEEK OF PRACTICE May 30 FIRST GAMES June 10 LAST WEEK OF GAMES Aug 6 (weather permitting) ALL DATES SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Please limit special requests to ONE. GENERAL LEAGUE INFORMATION All youth teams will have 1 practice per week. Games are generally on the weekends. Your coach will notify you of the practice day and time by May 25. Practice Times: 4:30pm, 5:30pm, OR 6:30pm Baseball Practice Locations include (not limited to): Newtown Park Age groups and game days are subject to change based upon registrations received. Children may play up one age group but not down one age group (subject to approval). Special requests are NOT guaranteed! Baseball players are placed by their age as of April 30, Refunds will not be given when practices or games are cancelled due to weather. Camp dates and registration deadlines are listed next to the information for each individual camp. Players are placed by their age as of April 30, FEES & AGE GROUPS: 4 Year Coed T-Ball $ JOHNS CREEK / ALPHARETTA RESIDENT $ NON RESIDENT 5/6 Year Coed Coach Pitch Baseball 7/8 Year Coed Coach Pitch Baseball $ JOHNS CREEK / ALPHARETTA RESIDENT $ NON RESIDENT 9-11 Year Coed Player Pitch Baseball $ JOHNS CREEK / ALPHARETTA RESIDENT $ NON RESIDENT All age groups may participate in interleague games played against other local teams at their home fields. Each player will need to bring his/her own baseball glove to games and practices. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED! Newtown Recreation relies on volunteers to coach our youth sports teams. A typical week of coaching consists of one hour long practice during the week and one to two games on the weekend. If you have experience in athletics and enjoy working with children, contact our office at or at info@newtownrec.com. Please fill out the Summer 2017 Coach Application at Background checks are processed. NEWTOWN TOTS PLEASE REGISTER EARLY! SOME AGE GROUPS MAY FILL UP PRIOR TO DEADLINE! Players are placed by their age as of April 1, Newtown Tots is an eight-week non-competitive sports program for 3 & 4 year old children. Half the session will be spent on each sport, learning and developing the basic skills of soccer and t-ball through fun drills and games. FEE: $ JOHNS CREEK RESIDENT $ NON RESIDENT Includes T-shirt and medal DATES: First class: Week of June 5, 2017 TIMES: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday OR Thursday - 9:00am OR 10:15am No formal games will be played. All classes will be held at Newtown Park on Baseball Field #1. 1:6 ra o of Instructor to Children per class. Class mes are subject to change based on registra ons. JUNIOR GOLF PLEASE REGISTER EARLY! THERE ARE LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE. Players are placed by their age as of September1, Noyce Swing Golf will hold all practices at The Hooch Golf Club. Matches will be held at The Peachtree Golf Center. 3 2017 SUMMER CAMPS SUMMER CAMP SCHEDULE All campers should bring a water bottle, snack and sunscreen every day. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN IF CAMP DAY(S) ARE CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. Participants who live outside of the City of Johns Creek may be charged an additional 50% non-resident fee. Players are placed by their age as of June 1, ALL-STAR CAMP DIRECTED BY TJ DIXON Campers will spend the week playing games in several sports including soccer, flag football, basketball, capture the flag and other fun games. June 5-9 May Years $150/$225 8:30am-12:30pm June June Years $150/$225 8:30am-12:30pm July July Years $150/$225 8:30am-12:30pm BASEBALL CAMP DIRECTED BY FULL COUNT Current and former college and high school players and coaches will lend their knowledge on the fundamental skills of baseball throughout this camp. Daily scrimmages, contests and games, as well as skills stations will be used to teach the lessons of America s pastime. June 5-9 May Years $140/$210 8:30am-12:30pm July July Years $140/$210 8:30am-12:30pm *Extended hours available for $35-8:00-8:30am and 12:30-1:00pm. Includes kickball and wiffle ball games. BASKETBALL CAMP DIRECTED BY MOEDE HOOPS Coach Thomas Moede has been directing this camp for the past several years. Campers will learn the fundamentals of basketball through drills and fun games. Camp will be held at Autrey Mill Middle School. This camp is designed to help campers learn and develop various lacrosse skills and technique through fun drills and games. June June Years $150/$225 8:30am-12:30pm BOYS LACROSSE CAMP DIRECTED BY JIM WESTBROOK Campers will receive technical skills and strategy training from local lacrosse coach Jim Westbrook. Coach Westbrook has been involved with lacrosse for over twenty years. His experience includes playing in college and coaching local teams. He was voted Georgia Lacrosse Man of the Year in He will be assisted by top local high school and college players. June June Years $135/$ :00am-12:00pm July July Years $135/$ :00am-12:00pm GIRLS LACROSSE CAMP DIRECTED BY NEWTOWN RECREATION STAFF Campers will learn and develop various lacrosse skills through instruction by local high school lacrosse coaches and current D1 lacrosse players. June 5-8 May Years $135/$ :30am-12:00pm July July Years $135/$ :30am-12:00pm GOLF CAMP DIRECTED BY NOYCE SWING Noyce Swing Summer Camp will cover all aspects of the game of golf. This includes putting, chipping, full swing, rules of golf, course play, and etiquette. Bryan Noyce is a graduate of The San Diego Golf Academy and has over 14 years of experience teaching junior golfers. The camps will use drills, games, competition, and teaching to create an enjoyable and fun atmosphere for all students. 5 2017 SUMMER CAMPS SUMMER CAMP SCHEDULE SOCCER CAMP DIRECTED BY BRITISH SOCCER All soccer campers will receive a summer camp t-shirt and soccer ball. Campers will gain technical and tactical instruction in all areas of the game. Emphasis is placed upon individual skill development and fundamental tactical awareness through our coaching mix of maximum participation, progressive practices and small sided games. Camps also focus on game-related techniques and tactical development. Camp activities include: tennis drills, team building activities, and games. Camps are offered for different age groups each week. Age groups are listed below. BASELINE BEGINNERS (Ages 4-5) - Designed to teach our youngest campers the basic fundamentals of the game of tennis. UP & COMERS (Ages 6-8) - Designed for beginners through intermediates as a fun way to learn. HOT SHOTS (Ages 9-11) - This action-packed and instructional camp creates a fun environment for players of all levels. HEAVY HITTERS (Ages 12-16) - Designed for the older kids of all abilities who have an interest in improving stoke production and match strategy. 6 HOW TO REGISTER NON-RESIDENT FEE POLICY Log on to Click the Register button. Log-in with your and password or create a New Family Account. Once logged in, click Sign-Up next to the child you would like to register. Pick the sport / age group. Add any Special Requests**. (NOT GUARANTEED) Check the Waiver boxes at the bottom of the page and click Proceed to Checkout OR Register Another. A $10 late fee will be incurred if you register AFTER the registration deadline date. Please make sure all contact information is up to date on your family account. All fees include a uniform. **Please limit Special Requests to ONE. No request is guaranteed! The City of Johns Creek collects a 50% non-resident fee for all programs and facility rentals that are held at Newtown Park. These fees are collected to help offset the increased cost of park maintenance which is not being funded by non-residents who do not pay City of Johns Creek taxes. Johns Creek s non-resident fee policy is similar to the nonresident fee policies in neighboring jurisdictions, like the cities of Alpharetta and Roswell. City residency is determined by your legal domicile. Individuals that provide false information in order to register at residential rates shall be denied registration and/or dropped from the program with no refund. **In a recent Memorandum Of Understanding, Alpharetta and Johns Creek have agreed to waive non-resident fees for recreational level lacrosse, softball and baseball. REFUND POLICY Requests for refunds must be made IN WRITING via (info@newtownrec.com). A $20 processing fee will be applied to all refunds BEFORE the registration deadline. AFTER the deadline, all refunds may be less an additional prorated amount. Refunds will not be given when practices or games are cancelled due to weather. Every attempt is made to make up games cancelled due to poor weather. This is not always possible, nor guaranteed. UPDATED MAY 2016
