1 Schedule Overview Monday, August 8 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Arrival/Orientation Check-In Welcome! You may arrive at your convenience during this timeframe. You will check into Orientation at the Embassy Suites. and guests with Orientation reservations should also check in with their students at this location. Your Orientation is primarily separate from your student s session. You will check in separately in Cooper 103 if you haven t already checked in at Embassy Suites. You made it! Now it s time to make sure you know what is required to avoid any immigration issues while you are here! International Services will provide a short overview of the laws, customs, and policies intended to help you make the U.S. your new home. We re thrilled that you came with your student this week! It s time for you to meet the team from Orientation and our campus partners who will support you and your student this week and throughout your USF experience. This session is an overview of Student Health s clinic services and insurance coverage policies, specific to international students. USF students love to eat on campus! Learn about how USF Dining will be an asset to you during your time at USF. Enjoy your first college meal in one of our campus dining halls. There is something for everyone! A catered lunch is provided in a private room near the student s dining hall. Housing questions? This session has all the information you need to know about living on campus. The USF Dean of will join us to explain how to be a positive and contributing member of the USF community! Take some time to unwind after all of today s information and connect with your Orientation Leaders and teammates. We realize that you probably have a long to do list while you are here. Use this time to take care of any errands that you may have. Be sure to utilize the Orientation staff to answer any questions or provide any assistance with the items you need to complete. Join Housing & Residential Education to learn how to become a successful resident on campus. We will summarize the day s information with your Orientation Leaders. What a day! Meet the Family Leaders at the Bronze Bulls by the Marshall Student Center if you are interested in a tour. Time to start picturing yourself on campus! We have a fun and interactive tour to help acclimate you to USF s campus. The college transition can be tough for even the most well-traveled students. Learn about campus resources available to students during this time period. This quick session is designed to help you understand your finances here as USF, including how to pay your student bill. There are lots of options to get around campus! Here you will learn about parking on campus, our BullRunner transit system, and more options so you can always find your way. Time for lunch! Enjoy another delicious meal in the dining hall. College sports are a big deal in America! Learn how to get involved in and support your USF athletics teams and campus recreation. #BullsUnite USF is a major research institution. Research may be one of the reasons you chose to become a Bull. Any and every student has the opportunity to do research on our campus. We encourage you to start thinking about research now! We have a lot of respect for our University Police Department. We want you to meet the Police and learn how they keep you safe and can help you if you are ever in need. Use this time to get in a good stretch or go the restroom before the next session. Being a Bull comes with a lot of responsibility. This important conversation will set the foundation for appropriate conduct at USF. Adjusting to college is tough for all students. This session will present some important topics for you to discuss with your student. We want to provide you with information to be able to support your student during his/her time at USF. Involved students are much more successful in the U.S. college environment. Learn how your students can get involved on campus without sacrificing academic success. You probably were not expecting a dance party during Orientation, were you? This social is a blast! We have music and food from all over the world. Come spend time with 300 of your new friends! This session will review all of the important academic policies and resources available to you as a Bull. USF has resources to help you succeed! What s your major? This session will include details about academic requirements for your specific college and major. We want everyone to get straight A s every semester! In this session, we ll continue the conversation from earlier and share our best tips for success in and out of the classroom. We are approaching the end. It s time to start thinking about saying goodbye. We want to help you by talking about the transitions that both you and your student will make during this collegiate experience. Hungry yet? We re heading back to the dining hall for another delicious meal. This is your last small group meeting before you register for classes. Ask good questions and share contact information so you can keep in touch! We ll miss having you at Orientation, but we look forward to seeing you on campus! After a brief presentation by your advisor, you will begin to choose your fall classes with the help of your advisor and student leaders. Don t miss this! We have been talking all week about the benefits of getting engaged with campus in and out of the classroom. This is your chance to explore those opportunities to get involved! We hope you have had a great week at Orientation! We definitely enjoyed the opportunity to get to know each of you. This is the end of your Orientation experience, but just the beginning of your time at USF. We hope that after this week, you are excited and prepared to get started! Bring your luggage to the Embassy Suites Convention Desk (the big window in the lobby) at your assigned time and we will assist you in moving into your residence hall.
