Bodine - Sunkist Growers Scholarship: This scholarship s eligibility requirements include financial need and a family (student and/or a member of the immediate family (parents/siblings/grandparents)) or personal involvement in California agriculture. It is open to students entering any phase of their undergraduate college career, at any school, and in any field of study. The number of recipients varies each year, with selection based on factors such as financial need, grade point average, College Board test scores, recommendations and an essay. Davis Scholarship: This $1,000 scholarship is available to all high school juniors and there is no age restriction. Be sure to include your name and the school you are attending this year and next. This is not an academic scholarship, but the sponsors would like to know where you are going to school now and what your future academic plans are. Please do not send transcripts or letters of recommendation at this time. Application procedure: applicants will need to submit an essay of less than 1,000 words on the topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that are developed in an individual. 4 Alice Madden Barton Cosmetology School Scholarship Program: Scholarships are given out twice a year and are available for current students, high school students and those pursuing a career in cosmetology or barbering. These scholarships vary and can be used at any cosmetology or barbering school. Please submit a completed application and a couple of paragraphs describing why cosmetology interests you. The scholarship selection procedures must be explicitly followed and criteria includes: acceptance or eligibility for enrollment in a post-secondary institution, indication of potential success in education, evidence of outstanding citizenship and maturity, transcripts and two letters of recommendation. To complete an application, student must submit a letter of recommendation from a YCHS mathematics teacher who is not on the scholarship committee, complete an essay outlining future plans, both educational and career wise, submit a unofficial transcript, and must enroll

Deadline: April 17, Barbara Kent Scholarship: ($300) Candidate must have taken at least 5 of these 6 science courses: IPS, Biology 1, Chemistry or Honors Chemistry, Advanced Biology & Chemistry Research, Physics or Honors Physics, or Honors Biology II (AP). Students must maintain at least a 3.25 GPA in the sciences classes, meet senior attendance requirements for YCHS, and have enrolled in a college or university for Fall Candidate must submit an essay outlining future goals and educational expectations in science or science related career and one letter of recommendation by a Jr. or Sr. science teacher. Deadline: April, Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) California Alarm Association Youth Scholarship Program: Paulsen Family Scholarship Fund: Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau Scholarship Program: Open to high school seniors from Yuba and Sutter counties, the Scholarship Program awards one-time gifts of $500 or more to a minimum of four students annually. To qualify, the student must be a senior currently enrolled in high school, have an average to above-average academic record, and plan to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational-technical school. Further, the student or student s parent(s)/guardian(s) must be a current member of Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau and have been for at least one (1) year prior to the date of the student s application. Students must submit a completed application, an essay, three letters of recommendation, and a sealed copy of high school transcripts for consideration. Career Center for application or visit: Deadline: April 24, Blue Jacket Bonanza Program LULAC National Scholarship: Yuba City Education Foundation Scholarship: Awards up to $5,000 in scholarship monies to support students who are interested in furthering their education. There are no specific requirements for this application, but volunteer work and financial need will be given priority. A complete application should include transcripts, two letters of recommendation and a 500 word personal statement. Applications are available in the Career Center. Postmark Deadline: May 8, 2015 Avalos Foundation Scholarship Shuichi and Masayo Yamamoto Scholarship: Applicant must show academic achievement and financial need and be enrolled in 2 or 4-year college or university or vocational school. Students whose parents are farm laborers (not farmers with real

7 property/assets who have borrowing capabilities) and/ or manual unskilled laborers are especially encouraged to apply. Two awards at $500 each. Pick up and return applications to the Career Center. Deadline: May 16, 2015 Judith Barr-Fairbanks Scholarship: Judith Barr-Fairbanks was a highly respected King Avenue elementary school teacher, who wanted to help deserving High School Seniors. The award amount is $1,000. Applicant must be a graduating senior, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate a keen interest in pursuing a formal education in preparing for a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Consideration will be given to a student to applying to Stanford University. Candidates must fill out an approved application (available at the Career Center), write an essay words on The Importance of Being an Elementary School Teacher, a brief biography ( words), and provide an official transcript. Return entire application packet to the College and Career Center. Deadline: May 1, 2015 Youth on Course Punjabi American Heritage Society Scholarship: FIVE $500 scholarships will be awarded to students from Yuba City High School who have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 and is enrolled in college or university for the following school year. Cultural and community involvement a must. Essay involved. Pick up and return applications to the Career Center. Deadline: April 17, 2015 Marysville Emblem Club #384 Scholarship Grant: For any high school senior in Yuba-Sutter County area, who maintains between a 2.5 and a 3.5 GPA and plans on going to a 2 year community college or vocational/technical course of study. Career goals should focus on becoming an active, contributing member of this local community. Award: $500. Pick up applications in the College & Career Center. Deadline: April 24, Cien Amigos IME Scholarship Fund $1,000 scholarship for a high school senior. $300 grant for a high school junior. These are online only scholarships. Information in the Career Center and applications at: Open March 1 st. Deadline May 31, 2015 Prabjot Bains Memorial Athletic Scholarship: This scholarship offers $500 to one male athlete and $500 to one female athlete. Recipients must be a member of a varsity team, a graduating senior, demonstrated leadership among his/ her peers, demonstrated outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship and be planning on continuing their education beyond high school. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a member of the YCHS Athletic Dept., an unofficial transcript, and a completed application. Applications must be obtained from and returned to the Career Center. Deadline: April 24, 2015 Insurance Professionals of Sacramento (IPS) 1 st place ($1.000) through 3 rd place ($500) awards offered by an insurance organization IPS is dedicated to develop leaders,

8 influence careers and connect members through education as well as build strong, dynamic communities, and deliver resources to their members. They are very passionate about education and part of what they do is offer scholarships to support graduating high school students with their continuing education every year. Iverson, D.D.S., M.S., Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior. Minimum of 3.5 GPA and previous or current patient of Dr. Iverson. Cover letter is available in the Career Center or can be downloaded along with the consent form at: Deadline: May 1, 2015 Vern Williams Scholarship: This scholarship is in the amount of $2,000. Applicants must prove financial hardship, have attended a Sutter County high school for at least three years, complete an application (including essay and a letter of recommendation), be willing to attend an oral interview, if selected, and be willing to be involved in a followup process to ensure that scholarship is administered appropriately. The committee is looking for a student who is in the process of improving their life and has decided that education is the key ingredient for their successful future. Application packet available in the Career Center (room 324) Deadline: April 24, 2015 Rideout Medical Associates Healthcare Scholarship: Rideout Medical Associates is offering one scholarship of $500 to a graduating high school senior who is pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. Criteria: 3.0 minimum grade point average, extracurricular activity (school clubs, athletics, etc.), community service/involvement (clubs, organizations, other group participation, etc.), and enrollment in a post-secondary institution (two-year, four-year, or technical school). Submit: official transcript, two (2) letters of recommendation: 1 from a teacher, counselor, or administrator, and 1 from a community member (not employed by the school), a one-page essay on your future goals and how you plan to attain them, brag sheet, completed cover page to the Career Center. Deadline: May 18, 2015 Khalsa Educational Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is open to students of East Indian descent. Students should submit a brief biographical sketch, an Activities & Honors form, and three letters of recommendation for consideration. Students should also be prepared to appear for a personal interview with the scholarship committee. More than one award of $500 is available. Pick up and return applications to the Career Center. Deadline: April 24, 2015 Rideout Medical Associates General Scholarship: Rideout Medical Associates is offering one scholarship of $500 to a graduating high school senior who is pursuing a career in business and/or technology. Criteria: 3.0 minimum grade point average, extracurricular activity (school clubs, athletics, etc.), community service/involvement (clubs, organizations, other group participation, etc.), and enrollment in a post secondary institution (two-year, four-year, or technical school). Submit: official transcript, two (2) letters of recommendation: 1 from a teacher, counselor, or administrator, and 1 from a

Deadline: May 18, 2015 Agents of Change Scholarship The Agents of Change (AOC) is proud to announce this scholarship opportunity for seniors that will be attending any community, four-year, or vocational college for the Fall semester of The AOC is a community service organization working in conjunction Sutter-Yuba Friday Night Live, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We donate our time and resources to helping those in need in both Yuba and Sutter Counties. The AOC will be awarding a $ scholarship to one student from Yuba County and one student from Sutter County to help offset expenses associated with class registration and books. Applications in the Career Center (room 324) Deadline: May 4, 2015 Workforce Development Scholarship The Sutter Yuba Community Foundation invites applicants for the Workforce Development Award. This is a one-time $500 award granted to a graduating high school senior seeking vocational training in an accredited technical or trade school program. Two or four-year schools are not included. Pick up an application in the Career Center (room 324) Deadline: April 30, 2015 Gurmit Kaur Rai Scholarship: The Rai family is offering a $ scholarship to a graduating senior who can submit 2 letters of recommendation, unofficial transcripts, an essay on how a woman has inspired you, and have participated in some volunteer or community work. Pick up an application in the Career Center. Deadline May 18, 2015 John & Karen Jelavich Scholarship The Sutter Yuba Community Foundation invites applicants for the Workforce Development Award. This is a one-time $500 award granted to a graduating high school senior planning to attend an accredited college of university. 2.0 GPA, proof of acceptance, and an essay required. Pick up an application in the Career Center (room 324). Deadline April 30, 2015 Hmong American Association, Inc. Educational Scholarship ($200) Offered by The Hmong American Association, Inc. of Marysville a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health, educational attainment, human welfare, and opportunities for Hmong youth, adults and families in Yuba and Sutter counties. Pick up application packet in the Career Center (room 324). Deadline: May 1, Sarah Jackson Memorial Scholarship The Sutter Yuba Community Foundation invites applicants for the Sarah E. Jackson Memorial Scholarship for $ The scholarship will be awarded one time to a local high school senior who plans to attend college and major in Education or English. 10 Gray Avenue Parent Teacher Organization (GAPTO) Scholarship: This $500 scholarship is for a YCHS graduating senior who attended Gray Avenue Middle School. G.A.P.T.O. would like to recognize a student who has demonstrated a hard work ethic, diligence, and a positive role model to their peers. Transcript and essay required. Essay prompt: How have your past experiences at Gray Avenue Middle School, help or shape your academic successes in high school and toward your future goals? Applications in the Career Center. Deadline: May 1, 2015 Sutter Buttes Garden Club (2) $2500 awards are offered to graduating high school seniors who are interested in a career in one of 18 fields. To list a few: Biology, Conservation, Vitaculture, Forestry, Botany, Floriculture, Recreation and many more. (see application for entire list of careers) Application available in the Career Center (room 324) Deadline: May 30, 2015 Caltrans District 3 Transportation Scholarship ($750) Student must be pursuing career in transportation requiring college instruction or vocational training. Involvement in school extracurricular activities. Financial need will be a consideration. Applications in the Career Center. (Room 324). Deadline: April 24, 2015 Splawn Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship for graduating seniors in California. All requirements are listed on the cover page. This is a need based scholarship. If you have any difficulties with this process, please your questions to splawnscholarship@hotmail.com (Renewable) Deadline: April 15, 2015 Yuba Sutter Cowbelles Scholarship: Students from the Yuba/Sutter county area that plan to attend a junior college, trade school, or university. First consideration will be given to students majoring in the field of beef production, beef husbandry, or a related agriculture field. Applicants must be a full time student and carry at least 12 units, be a Yuba or Sutter county resident, have a 3.0 GPA or above, and be a US citizen. Miller Memorial Scholarship: One scholarship award of $2,000 is intended for a female student who demonstrates an ability to inspire others through her teamwork, leadership skills, drive, determination, hard work, and commitment. Criteria includes three letters of recommendation, evidence of community service, participation in girl s athletics, and an essay of 750 to 1,000 words on Describe how you, in your life so far, have inspired others, both on and off the playing field. Describe how you will continue to be both an inspirational leader and a positive role model for females after you leave high school. Pick up and return applications to the Career Center. 11 Erik U. Karlshoej Scholarship: This scholarship is offered in memory of Erik U. Karlshoej, a former student at Yuba City High School. The scholarship amount is $750. Applicant must be enrolled in a college or university for the following school year, meet the senior attendance requirement, have maintained at least a 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate a keen interest in pursuing a formal education in either construction, agriculture or engineering. Candidates must fill out an approved application (available at the Career Center), write a one-page typed essay on Why you are choosing the field of Construction, Agriculture or Engineering, a brief biography ( words), and provide an unofficial transcript. Return entire application packet to the College and Career Center. Deadline: May 15, Rotary Memorial Scholastic Foundation, Inc. Scholarship: (ACADEMIC) The Rotary Club of Yuba City is offering scholarships to assist and encourage graduates of Sutter County High Schools who have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership potential, and have participated in extra-curricular activities. Financial need to pursue a college education will also be taken into consideration. Complete applications should include a transcript, ACT and /or SAT scores, scholarship recommendation, a 500 word personal essay and a 300 word financial information essay. Awards range from $1,000 to $3,000. Applications are available in the Career Center. Deadline: May 1, 2015 Gurdev & Satinder Thiara Scholarship Two (2) $500 scholarships for graduating YCHS seniors. For students planning to study Ag is recommended but not required. 3.0 GPA and planning to attend a 4-year college or university (proof of registration required.) Completed applications returned to the Career Center Deadline: May 20, 2015 Yuba City Cogeneration $500 for an eligible YCHS senior interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Exhibit personal or community leadership, demonstrate financial need, and attend a two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire academic year. Official transcript, resume, and a 700 word essay. Pick up an application in the Career Center, Deadline: May 1, 2015 Colusa/Sutter/Yuba CSY Charter (Association of California School Administrators) The Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 2 Colusa/Sutter/Yuba (CSY) has four scholarships, $1,000 for overall and three for $500 (one scholarship for each county) available for a high school senior who has an interest in furthering his/her education. Pick up applications in the Career Center (room 324). Deadline no later than May 8, 2015 Yuba City High School Choir Memorial Scholarship Fund: Applicant must have been active in music classes and performing groups 10 th, 11 th and 12 th grades. Applicant must display a sincere desire and lifelong interest in music. Pick up and return completed application to the Career Center. Deadline: May 13, 2015

12 Karnail Singh Takhar Scholarship: Applicant must be of Punjabi, Punjabi/American heritage and have a parent or grandparent who is a migrant farm worker. Applicants must also have a GPA of at least 3.0, enroll in college or university for Fall 2013, participate in his or her culture, religion and community. Award is $500. Pick up and return applications to the Career Center. Deadline: May 13, 2015 Civil Service Employees Insurance Co. Youth Automobile Safety Scholarship: See application in the Career Center (Room 324. Or go to: and click on Youth Scholarship) Deadline: May 23, 2015 The Yuba City Teacher s Association Scholarship The Yuba City Teacher s Association will award up to three scholarships annually in the sum of $200 to qualified seniors graduating from a Yuba City Unified School District Program, one for a student who excels academically, one for a student who plans to go into teaching and one for a YCTS unit member s qualified child. Deadline: May 16, 2015 Yuba Sutter Bar Association Donald E. Huckins Memorial Scholarship: This award is based on scholarship and need. Preference will be given to applicants who plan a major in law, police science, or government, but applicants who study in other areas will also be considered. Pick up an applications in the Career Center (room 324) and return completed applications to the Career Center. Deadline: May 15, 2015 Sohal Family Scholarship: Applicants with a 3.0 GPA, extra-curricular activities, who plan on enrolling full-time at an accredited college or university are eligible to receive this $500 scholarship. A completed application will include an official transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a 500 word essay describing future goals, including future plans, school major, and type of career after college graduation. Pick up and return applications to the Career Center. Deadline: May 15, 2015 Barry School Parent Club Scholarship: A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who attended Barry School during their 7 th and 8 th grade years and were promoted from Barry School. Student must have a GPA of 2.5 and submit application including 2 letters of recommendation. Applications available in the Career Center. Deadline: May 11, 2015 Gurbax S. Johl Memorial Scholarship: Applicant must be of the Sikh religion, and plan to continue education after high school. Award is $500. Pick up and return completed application to the Career Center. Deadline: May 25, 2015 John F. Ohrt: The scholarship is to be a yearly offering in the amount of $1,500. The recipient is to be a male varsity football or baseball player with a minimal high school cumulative grade point average of C+ (2.5). The athlete chosen will have demonstrated courage, perseverance, loyalty to the team, and good citizenship. Deadline: May 22, 2015
