1 WARRENTON HIGH SCHOOL LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS *Applications are available in the Guidance Center. Most applications are due back to the Guidance Office on March 28 th by 3:00 PM. Please check each application for the due date. If there is not a due date listed it is due March 28 th by 3:00 PM. *Students- Please read over each scholarship description then make a list of the scholarships you are eligible for. Bring your list to the Guidance Office to pick up the applications you need. There will be many students picking up applications, so having a list of which ones you want will speed up the process. ADVANCE BEAUTY COLLEGE- Advance Beauty College in Wentzville is offering a $500 scholarship to a student who plans to attend their college. Selection is based on grade point average and accomplishments. BIG RED BOOSTERS- The Big Red Booster Scholarship Program will provide a $500 academic scholarship to one male and one female athlete each year. The scholarship payment may be used for tuition and books at an accredited institution. Payments will be made directly to the college or university attending in the name of the recipient(s). BROCKFELD SCHOLARSHIP- Russell Brockfeld is sponsoring a $500 scholarship in memory of G. A. Brockfeld, Nell M. Brockfeld and Jon A. Brockfeld. The scholarship is intended to assist students entering a business related major, skilled trade or professional career. Selection is based on school record, work experience, a written paragraph stating reasons for applying and academic standing. DANIEL BOONE RETIRED TEACHERS AND SCHOOL PERSONNEL SCHOLARSHIP- The purpose of this scholarship is to promote teaching through the offering of a $500 scholarship to a 2014 graduate from a public high school in Warren County who is planning a career in education. DANNY J. MARTIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AND DR. JAMES CALE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP- This $500 scholarship is sponsored by the Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce. Recipient must be sponsored by a Chamber member. Each Chamber member may sponsor only one (1) scholarship applicant each year. Recipient must plan to attend a two year college, four year college or vocational school. Academics, community and school involvement will all be considered. GEORGE AND MELNA BOLM SCHOLARSHIP- George and Melna Bolm of Warrenton offer two scholarships ($1,000 each) to one male and one female student who plan to major in an agriculture related area with preference for a student attending the University of Missouri-Columbia. If no agriculture students qualify, health care at the University of Missouri will be considered.
2 IAABO-IAFO SCHOLARSHIP- The International Association of Approved Basketball Officials and The Interscholastic Association of Football Officials have established scholarships in order to support the young men and women in the schools they officiate. Any high school senior who is a US citizen is eligible. Students must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average in order to apply. The deadline for this application is April 2, ISEMANN SCHOLARSHIP- The Isemann Scholarship is administered through Friedens United Church of Christ and is awarded to Frieden s members who are attending a UCC Seminary or Nursing School or nonmembers attending Deaconess College of Nursing. Students do not have to be members of Frieden s United Church of Christ to apply. KAY SHORES MEMORIAL GRANT AND AID- The local chapter of Gamma Alpha offers a $500 scholarship to a female graduate planning to further her education. The scholarship is open to female students who are planning a career in education. Selection will be by a committee of members of Gamma Alpha. LOUIS W. GUNTHER SCHOLARSHIP- This scholarship is sponsored by Frieden s United Church of Christ. It is for students who are planning to become a Registered Nurse. Students do not have to be members of Frieden s United Church of Christ to apply. MARGARET PRINGLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP- Scholarships will go to students who are attending a vocational or technical school and students who are planning to play a sport in college, but have not earned a scholarship for it. Preference will be given to students attending a Missouri college or university. MARINE CORPS LEAGUE RICHARD SCOTT HAYMES SCHOLARSHIP- This scholarship is for children, a spouse, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step children of an active duty, reserve duty or honorable discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps or US Navy FMF Corpsman. Or a member of the Marine Corps League or Marine Corps League Women s Auxiliary. MFA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP- The scholarship may be used at the college or university of your choice and toward any course of study you desire to pursue. The amount of the scholarship is $2,000. The local selection committee considers the following: scholastic progress, citizenship, extra-curricular activities, educational plans, and financial need. The deadline for this application is March 14, PEOPLE S BANK AND TRUST SCHOLARSHIP- This scholarship is sponsored by the People s Bank and Trust. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA to be considered. The scholarship is for $2000 each year and can be renewed for up to 4 years. There is an essay and a financial need component to the application. The deadline for this scholarship is March 14, 2014.
3 ROEHRS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP- This scholarship is open to any student from WHS. It is sponsored by the Roehrs family and is worth $2000. Applicants must write an essay about the importance of family in their development. RAYMOND & MARIE SPRICK SCHOLARSHIP- The Raymond & Marie Sprick Scholarship Fund was established to aid deserving WHS graduates who will be pursuing further education in the specific areas of health care, education and agriculture/conservation. Two or more scholarships will be awarded annually, one or more in each of the above areas. The amount will very each year. Students do not have to be members of Frieden s United Church of Christ to apply. SCHOWENGERDT FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP- Ms. Margaret Schowengerdt of Warrenton established the Schowengerdt Family Scholarship in It is intended to assist graduates of Warrenton High School who will attend the University of Missouri - Columbia. The number and amount of scholarships may vary yearly and are based on academic achievement, character, personality, industry, and ambition. Financial need may be a consideration. SHELTER INSURANCE FOUNDATION & KEITH HUFF SCHOLARSHIP- This scholarship will be awarded annually to graduating seniors who attend high schools that are approved and accredited by the states departments of education. The scholarship will be in the amount of $2,000. A selection committee will consider applicants scholastic achievement, participation and leadership in school and community activities, citizenship and moral character, and educational goals. THE MISSOURI BANK SCHOLARSHIP- The Missouri Bank of Warrenton awards two scholarships ($1,000 each) to graduating seniors who will be attending a college or university. Factors considered in the selection are grade point average, college admissions test scores, student curriculum, financial need, and extracurricular activities. TIM AND JAN LONG LEADERSHIP AWARD- This scholarship provides a $2500 one-time educational grant to a deserving student to further his or her education. Eligible students should be leaders in school and community as well as have a record of service to school and local/world community. Eligible students must also have exceptional academic credentials. WARREN COUNTY FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIP- The Warren County Farm Bureau offers a $500 scholarship to graduating seniors. Student s family must be Warren County Farm Bureau members on or before January 1, Applicants may major in any discipline, but preference will be given to those enrolling in an agricultural field.
4 WARREN COUNTY SHERIFF S DEPARTMENT ROLE MODEL SCHOLARSHIP- The Warren County Sheriff s Department and the Warren County D.A.R.E. Program provide a $1,000 scholarship to a senior who is planning on furthering their education. Emphasis is placed on being a citizen of good character and being a positive role model. WARRENTON HIGH SCHOOL INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP- Warrenton High School Industrial Technology Club sponsors a scholarship for a senior planning to further his/her education. Consideration is given to financial need, school or community involvement, academic standing, reasons for applying, work experience, and other scholarships received. Club membership is not required but will be considered. Selection is made by a committee of Industrial Arts Club members, school staff and community residents. WARRENTON HIGH SCHOOL NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP- The Warrenton High School National Honor Society Chapter sponsors a scholarship to a senior member of National Honor Society planning to continue his/her education. Academic standing and community involvement are considered. Application form includes reasons for applying and future plans for continuing education. Selection is made by school staff members and club advisor. WARRENTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP- The Warrenton High School Student Council offers a $250 scholarship to a graduating senior planning to attend college. Academic standing, school involvement and financial need are considerations. Selection is made by members of Student Council. WARRENTON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP- The WHS Alumni Association offers a scholarship with academic standing and school and community involvement as the main selection criteria. Selection is made by the WHS Alumni Association. WARRENTON HIGH SCHOOL STAFF SCHOLARSHIP- The Warren County R-III Board of Education offers a scholarship to a graduating senior planning to attend college. Academic standing, school involvement and financial need are considerations. Selection is made by WHS staff. WARRENTON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIP- The Warrenton Fire Protection District sponsors a $500 scholarship in honor of fallen firefighters. It is open to students who have been active in school activities and who have maintained good grades. Selection is made by members of the fire protection district. WARRENTON FIRE PROTECTION LADIES AUXILLIARY- We will be awarding a $500 scholarship to and individual who is resident of the Warrenton Fire Protection District and is pursuing a career in emergency health care or firefighting services. Each applicant must include a 500 word essay stating why they deserve the scholarship and must attach two letters of recommendation.
5 WARRENTON ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP- The Warrenton Rotary Club sponsors $2,000 scholarships. The number of awards varies. Consideration is given to academic standing and community involvement. The application contains a written section stating reasons for applying. Application deadline is April 1, Selection is made by Rotary members. WOODROW WILSON BLACKWOOD SCHOLARSHIP- Each year, the Warrenton Education Association, in memory of Mr. Blackwood, a former Warren County R-3 teacher, offers a scholarship to graduates planning to further his/her education. Applicants must complete an application form stating educational goals and listing two references. Academic record, educational goals and financial need are considered. Selection is made by a committee of the Warrenton Education Association.
