Unless otherwise indicated applications are available in the scholarship drawer in the Guidance office. Students must apply between Oct 15, 2016 & December 15, Go to: to apply Young Entrepreneur Award: if you re a graduating senior who owns a small business you can apply for the 2017 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award. Visit for more information and to apply online between October 1 & December 18, DAR Scholarships : The Wiltwyck Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is offering scholarships to assist deserving young students to acquire a higher education. The amount of the scholarships vary depending on the application. For NY there are 3 different scholarships students can apply for 1) Helen & Arnold Barben Scholarship Fund 2) Damaris Smith Desimone Scholarship 3) NYS DAR Scholarship, applications are available in the Guidance office or may be downloaded at once on the website click on education then scholarships to see application & criteria to apply. Applications are due to the local DAR Scholarship Committee Chairman-name and address available with the applications in the scholarship drawer in the Guidance office and must be received by them no later than January 15, 2017 by the Chairman Excellence in Nursing: Hudson Valley Magazine in offering its 10 th Annual Excellence in Nursing Scholarship Essay Contest and will award $1, to a motivated high school senior who plans to pursue a career in nursing at their Nursing Awards gala in May. Letters of Recommendation, an Essay, transcript, ACT and or SAT scores required with the application to apply. The application is available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. 2 2017 Rondout Valley Scholarship Fund: Packets available beginning Friday, February 10 th for graduating seniors who wish to apply-many scholarships available. Packets must be returned to the Guidance office by February 24 th, Mid-Hudson Chapter of NYS Association of School Business Officials: Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties: Student Education Scholarship 2017: There are to be four scholarships awarded-one to each county. Application packets are available in the HS Guidance office scholarship drawer. The amount of the scholarship is $ to students who are pursuing a degree in Business, Finance and/or Education. The application requires three letters of reference, an official high school transcript and a one-page narrative explain the reason for applying for the scholarship and student goals in the field of business, finance and/or education. All applications must be mailed by Friday, February 17, Alliance Credit Union: Members, their children & grandchildren are eligible to apply. Must be a high school senior planning to be a full-time college student. The award will be $ An essay is required on topic indicated on application. NYWEA-The New York Water Environment Association is offering (1) $10,000 Environmental Career Scholarship (1) $5,000 Nicholas J. Bartilucci Scholarship & (12) 2,500 Scholarships. The NYWEA is a non-profit educational organization of water professionals that promote sustainable clean water quality management through science, education & training. Students who apply must be related to a firefighter, be a firefighter, or be an explorer in a fire department or district that is a current paid member of the Association of Fire Districts of the State of NY. Deadline for applications is the first Saturday in March U.C.V.F.A. Scholarship: The Ulster County Volunteer Fireman s Association is offering a scholarship to graduating seniors. All applicants must be an active member of a bona fide fire company or a child of a parent who is an active member of a bona fide fire company. Applicants must be pursuing a further education in Fire Science of Fire Engineering and provide acceptable proof of, if no applicants are pursuing these curricula the committee may consider a qualified applicant who is seeking another field of study. Other details to apply are available on the scholarship application which is available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. Completed applications are due to the U.C.V.F.A. committee by March 1, 2107.
3 Charles Haas Memorial Scholarship Fund Inc: The Charles Haas Memorial Scholarship Fund is offering scholarships to two graduating seniors from Ulster County. Applicants must be an active member of a bona fide fire department or a child of parents who are active members of a bona fide fire company. Students who apply must be planning to complete a two or four year college and have evidence of pursuing a career in these acceptable curricula that must be approved by the Committee: Fire Science, Fire Engineering and Public Service. If no applications are seeking any of these fields of study the Scholarship Committee will consider other professional fields. Completed applications & other supporting documents required for application must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2017 to the address provided on the application that is available in the Guidance office Scholarship drawer Civics Poster & Essay Contest: On behalf of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) grade 11 th & grade 12 students from all New York State counties can participate in this contest. Contest enrollment forms and participant requirements are available in the HS Guidance scholarship drawer. The 1 st place poster and essay wins $300.00, 2 nd place wins $ and the 3 rd place poster and essay wins $ Students who participate must have in the materials to the address indicated on the enrollment form by March 3, FASNY: GERARD J. BUCKENMEYER VOLUNTEER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: applicants must be a member in good standing with FASNY or have a parent or legal guardian who is a member, be a graduating senior enrolled in the fall 2017 school year at an accredited 2 or 4 year institution of higher learning or a technical post-secondary school, be a current junior firefighter, Explorer or RAM in a group affiliated with a volunteer department, a volunteer firefighter or a volunteer with an EMS unit, and must demonstrate a commitment to both volunteer emergency service & to the community. (20) $1500 scholarships- NYS wide-essay, letters of recommendation, resume, certification of acceptance to an institution of higher learning & list of extracurricular activities are required to apply. Deadline for applications is a postmark date of March 15, The Junior League of Kingston is offering a female college bound senior in Ulster County a $ scholarship to a student who has demonstrated a strong commitment to volunteering and plans to further her education. The recipient must show contributions to her community through volunteer service. Applications are available in the Guidance office. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the Junior League of Kingston no later than March 28, 2017.
4 NYSIR Scholarships: The Cristin Ann Bambino Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a special education student who is college bound on a regional basis to reward a student for working through challenges to complete high school & obtain acceptance to a college or university. (7) recipient s will receive a $3000 scholarship (1) a $4000 scholarship & (1) a $5000 scholarship. The Paul Jensen Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship one in the amount of $5000 & the other is for $3000 is available to a student who has excelled in design in his or her high school career. The Joseph Goncalves Student Humanitarian Scholarship, one scholarship in the amount of $5000 & the other in the amount of $3000 will be awarded to a graduating senior from a NYSIR subscriber district who plans to attend college in NYS. Students who apply should also demonstrate a record of involvement & work for a cause or organization that actively promotes social justice, equal opportunity & relief of human suffering or other similar aspirations within the meaning of humanitarian activity. Essays required for all applications which are available in the HS Guidance Office. Deadline for postmark application is March 29, 2017-so they must be turned in to the HS Guidance office by March 15 so that our school business official for our district can fill out their part of the application. Erica Bell Memorial Scholarship: Graduating seniors who have been a dedicated member of the Rondout Valley Field Hockey team for at least 3 years and plan to continue their education can apply for the Erica Bell Memorial Scholarship. See all application details available in the Guidance office- deadline is March 31, Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation Scholarship: students who apply must have a gpa equivalent to a 3.0 or higher, must plan to be an undergraduate student at an accredited college located in Ulster, Dutchess or Orange county or be attending Empire State College for the Fall of term. All supporting documents and the application is due to Ulster Charitable Foundation by March 31, Fifteen scholarships will be awarded this year in the amount of $ each-12 general scholarships & 3 for students pursuing careers in Business/Finance. Applications are available in the HS Guidance office scholarship drawer or on Ulster Savings website. Deadline: apps must be received by the Foundation by March 31, Jewish Federation of Ulster County: Scholarship is available in the amount of $180. Students who apply must be Jewish. Applications are available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. Deadline for application is March 31, American Society of Civil Engineers: A scholarship is being offered to qualifying graduating seniors in the Mohawk-Hudson Section of NY to seniors with the goal to becoming a practicing civil engineer. This year the scholarship is a 4-year, $ per year scholarship. Applications are available in the HS Guidance office scholarship drawer. The deadline for the application & supporting materials to their committee is March 31, Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley: if offering many scholarships through one application-to view all of the scholarships available click on the scholarship directory at or come to the Guidance office to get a copy of their scholarship directory. Visit the website for application instructions and the on line application. Students who wish to apply must apply by April 1, 2017.
5 Tony Schembri Memorial Scholarship: Students must submit an essay to be considered for this $500 scholarship that is offered to students in schools in the Hudson Valley to apply for through Rolling Thunder, Inc., a non-profit veteran-support organization. The information regarding the essay topic and the address student s need to send their essay to, is available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. The deadline for their committee to receive essays from students is April 1, TEG: Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that they are once again offering the Joyce A. Betros $ Scholarship to three high school seniors who have demonstrated high academic excellence and community service throughout their high school careers. Students who apply must be a TEG member or have a parent/guardian who is a member. Application packets are available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer and must be received by TEG by Friday April 1, 2017 Anna Mae Auchmoedy/Lottie Burns Scholarship: Students must be a Rosendale resident to apply for this scholarship. Award is in the amount of $ All applications must be sent and received by April 7, 2017 to the Friends of Rosendale Library-address available on the application which is available in the HS Guidance office scholarship drawer. Coach House Players Scholarship: If you are a college bound senior who is majoring in Drama/and or Music (vocal/instrumental) you can apply for this scholarship. The amount of the scholarship is $ The applications are available in the HS Guidance office scholarship drawer. Applications must be submitted to their scholarship committee address on the application by the deadline date of April 7, NYS Association of Agricultural Fairs & NYS Showpeople s Association: annual scholarship program for students who are NYS residents and who currently are or have previously been active in a fair that is a member of the NYSAAF or the NYSSA and who plan to attend a college in pursuit of a degree. The fair where you have been active or the NYSSA must endorse your application and will submit it for you. Amount of the scholarship is $ Deadline for applications which must be submitted by the student to the member fair or the NYSSA is the second Friday in April. (April 14, 2017) Dominic Parise Master Gardener Scholarship: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County is encouraging any college-bound student in Ulster County who is pursuing a horticulture, agriculture or environmental biology degree to apply for this annual scholarship in the amount of $ Applications are available in the HS Guidance office scholarship drawer or on-line on the Cornell Cooperative Extension s website. Deadline for applications must be postmarked on or before April 15, Dolores Freese Scholarship: The Women s Club of Rosendale is once again offering a scholarship in the amount of $ Students who apply must be graduating in 2017, be a Town of Rosendale resident and planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college beginning if September Selection will be based on merit, and financial need. Applications are available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. All applications must be received by the Women s Club committee by April 19, 2017.
6 Rondout Valley Federation of Teachers & School Related Personnel Clerical Scholarship: This scholarship is sponsored by all the employees in the RVCSD Clerical Unit. Seniors who are pursuing an education in the field of business and/or going into the work force for business may apply for this scholarship. Applications are available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. Amount of award is TBA. Deadline for applications to be returned to Debbie Gottstine in the main office at Rondout Valley High School is April 19, Ulster County Italian American Foundation: must attend a high school in Ulster County to apply and be enrolled as a full time student. All students who apply must be from Italian-American Descent (or from a family of Italian American-Descent.) Up to 20 scholarships will be awarded in Ulster County. See other criteria to apply available on the application available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. Applications are also available online at Amount of scholarship is $ Deadline for applications to their committee is April 21, CSEA Southern Region Scholarship Application: The Southern Region of CSEA represents union members working in the following counties: Orange, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster & Sullivan. This scholarship is available only to seniors whose parents or guardians are current members of CSEA in the Southern Region territory & also to graduating seniors whose parents or guardians are members of VOICE/CSEA. Filing deadline for this scholarship is April 22, Amount of scholarship is to TBA by CSEA. Steven E. Pinelli Memorial Scholarship & Elvalee Woodside Memorial Scholarship: Two $ scholarships to a graduating senior in the Hudson Valley who will be furthering their career in the field of Food Service, Hospitality, Hotel Management or Dietetics. Applications must be returned to the school Food Service Director by Tuesday, April 27, Applications are available in the High School Guidance office scholarship drawer. Colonel Ellis Memorial Scholarship & Essay Contest: contest is open to all High School Seniors in Rockland, Ulster, Orange & Sullivan County. One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $ and will be awarded each Memorial Day to the high school senior who demonstrates high academic achievement, a record of performance in school & community activities & an interest in the heritage of the United States. All applications and supporting documents must be received by April 30 th, to the address listed on the application which is available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. Rondout Valley Federation of Teachers & School Related Personnel Scholarships: to be eligible for a Rondout Valley Federation Scholarship students must qualify for one of three categories: *Academics, *Citizenship & Leadership, *Post High School Plans. Deadline May 2, Ellenville Regional Hospital Award: This award will be given to a graduating senior who will be continuing his or her education at an accredited college or university in a Health Related Field. The amount of the scholarship is $ Applications are in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. Your application must be received by their committee by the deadline date of May 5, 2017.
7 The Shawangunk Garden Club Award: An award in the amount of $ will be given to a graduating senior who has achieved academic success. Students who apply must be continuing his or her education at an accredited college or university in an Environmental or Conservation related field (Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Botany, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Conservation, Land/Water Management, Agriculture, Natural Resources, Floriculture, Earth Science, Living Environment or other related field). Applications are in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. Deadline for you application to be received by their committee is May 5, Sergeant Shawn M Farrell II Scholarship Memorial Fund: The SGT Shawn Farrell II Scholarship is offering a scholarship for graduating seniors in Ulster County. Students who are eligible to apply must have or will join the military or have been accepted by a two or four year college in the field of emergency services, with plans to complete a two or four year program. If no applicants meet the eligibility requirements the award will go to a student who applied to college who has parents who are or have served in the military or emergency services. Applications for the scholarship are available in the HS Guidance office scholarship drawer. The application and all supporting materials must be sent to the address indicated on the application and must be received by their scholarship committee by the deadline date of May 10, Award amount TBA Indian Valley Little League Eric Uppenbrink Scholarship Award: all applicants must be a former Indian Valley Little League Baseball or Softball player to apply. Applicants must submit a letter to the Indian Valley Little League Board on the topic indicated in the scholarship details. Kent Scholarship: a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior in Ulster County who has demonstrated a commitment to volunteerism in the community and who will be continuing his or her education at an accredited college or university in New York in the field of nursing. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the HealthAlliance Foundation by May 15, Applications are available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer. The Rochester Residents Association is offering: The $1,000 Rochester Residents Association Community Scholarship which will be awarded to a graduating high school senior from the Town of Rochester who demonstrates leadership and academic promise. The scholarship will be awarded under the auspices of a Scholarship Committee appointed by the RRA and is funded by the RRA's members. Deadline for applications to the Association is by May 15 th, Applications are available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer or at
8 Donald L. Schoonmaker Scholarship Fund: a yearly scholarship offered in the memory of Donald L. Schoonmaker. Students who apply should desire to pursue further study in horticulture or a science field. Students must have a C+ average or better to apply. Deadline is May 20 th and October 20 th of each year the applications must be received by their committee by those dates, no late applications accepted. Students who miss the May 20 th deadline will be considered for the October 20 th scholarship. Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Society Scholarship Application: must be a graduating High School Senior accepted in a college program who is pursuing a career in Mental Health, such as Psychiatry, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing or Social Work. There will be Three Five-Hundred Dollar Awards given to students in the Mid-Hudson region. Applications are available in the Guidance office scholarship drawer.
