Female, Bridgett Sutryk and Male, Samuel Byler The Todd Crane Basketball Award Senior boy and girl basketball player who demonstrated superior ability and contribution to the team Male, Joshua Sprague and Female, Bridgett Sutryk Scott Denison Memorial Award Presented in memory of Scott Denison to a Senior Addison wrestler and former TAWC Wrestler, who has demonstrated dedication to wrestling. Winner receives a cash award. Clyde Cary Nicholas J. Mayo Youth Soccer Award Addison Youth Soccer League Senior boy and girl, former youth player (if possible) who has demonstrated leadership and excellence in soccer. Female, Bridgett Sutryk and Male, Cody Arnold Pictured above: Karissa Flint and Mrs. Loomis Jen Hannacker Sportsmanship Award Senior girl with average ability, is supportive of her team and coaches, and displays a positive attitude. Rebekah Fort John and Jean Grange Scholarship A senior with average of 85 or better, plays high school basketball, baseball or golf. Matthew Hawkins Ralph and Marjorie Northrup Scholarship Goes to a graduating senior who plans to attend a college or university full-time in the fall. The recipient of this award must demonstrate a willingness to work hard and be considered committed to their community. The recipient of this merit award must plan to purse a degree in one of the following fields: Agriculture, Environmental Studies, Nursing, Early Childhood Development, or Home Economics. Margaret Northrup Wilson Award The student must have a strong desire for liberal arts education. The applicant must have demonstrated good citizenship have a superior academic record, and complete the essay title Why I Desire a Liberal Arts Education. Cash award was given. James Beebe David Dartt Memorial Award Senior athlete, preferably from the Valley Elementary School, who has excelled in swimming or track. Winners receive a $50 bond. Selected by Varsity Swimming & Track Coaches or Athletic Director. Cody Arnold Eric Dart Memorial Award To a former Valley student who has made the greatest effort at BOCES or who attended Valley Elementary School. Megan Tomeno Royce Nolton Awarded to two seniors who attended Valley Elementary and were helpful students. Alyssa Hughes and Corning Area Chamber of Commerce This scholarship is available to a student who is seeking to complete a degree or certificate at a school in the State of New York. The student must be affiliated in some way with a Corning Area Chamber of Commerce Member and have demonstrated at least 25 hours of community service in the last 12 months. Vivian Hirsh Memorial Award Kathryne Witter William Gilbert Memorial Award Marissa Eggleston Cliff Miles Jr - Andrew Cline Clarence L. and Maynarda L. Moore Education Fund This fund is to assist students of ACS who have financial need, ability, potential and character necessary to obtain a higher degree in business. Rebekah Fort, Joshulin Sommer, Corissa Hyde and Joseph Ferraioli Science and Humanitarian Award Awarded to a senior who has shown distinction in science and has a predilection for community service. Brandi Davis Kathy Akerelrea Memorial Scholarship Addison SRO Scholarship Bridgett Sutryk Retiring The High School building will be losing three wonderful people this year. Mrs. Betsy Rice, who has 32 years with the district and is also a graduate of Addison Central School, has been the eleventh grade English teacher. Mrs. Gail Delafield, who has 16 years with the district, has been a Special Education teacher. Mr. Roger Seymour, who has been with the district for 6 years after retiring from Corning with 25 years in the business world, has been a Math teacher. These three people have been an integral part of the high school team and will be missed more than they know. Congratulations, and best wishes to you. 4 6 th Grade All-County (auditioned and were selected to participate in a group of 6 th grade musicians throughout the county) Outstanding Musician Award (Awarded for their dependability, reliability, and extra help they provided. Also for their great attendance at band and lessons and for their participation in various music festivals and parades) Issue 40 Page 4 of 5 July 3, Awards for 6th Grade NYSSMA Participants (prepared a solo for a judge on their instrument) Caleb Mahnke Most Improved Member (shown tremendous growth with their skills on their instrument throughout this school year) Pride Award This award is chosen by the 6 th grade members. It is a result of a collaborative effort between ACS (Mr. Overton and his students) and the Village of Addison who supplied the materials. The bandstand is located on school grounds next to the Addison Public Library. Great job everyone!
