2 THE MISSISSIPPI NURSES ASSOCIATION APRN SPRING CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD AT THE MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY RILEY CENTER IN MERIDIAN, MS APRIL 21-23, 2016 The MNA 2016 APRN Spring Conference will explore the basis of Nursing Excellence-Leadership, Education, and Innovation Conference offerings include: Presentations from Industry Experts A Dynamic Industry Expo Hands-On Skills Workshops Engaging Sessions Earn Up to 25.5 Continuing Education Credits And much more... Program Accreditation The Mississippi Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. Hours are awarded only for the session hours attended. Contact hours to be awarded for each session are posted in this guide. 3 2016 APRN Conference Information MNA Conference Policies and Procedures SESSION CREDITS & EVALUATIONS ON-LINE ONLY: To receive contact hours for a session, each attendee must: 1) attend the entire session; 2) scan your name badge at the beginning of each session; 3) complete the session evaluation on-line (available 48 hours after the conclusion of the conference; certificates can be printed 24 hours after completing the evaluation). PRESENTATION HANDOUTS: In keeping with MNA s green policy, all available handouts will be posted to the MNA website. Prior to attending the sessions, registrants are encouraged to print the materials or store them on an electronic device. The handouts can be found on the MNA website ( under the LIBRARY menu in the 2016 APRN Conference folder. WI-FI ZONE: Registered attendees will have access to standard free Wi-Fi within the MNA APRN Conference designated areas of the MSU Riley Center. NAME BADGES: Registered attendees MUST wear their official APRN Conference name badges at all times to access APRN Conference events. Conference name badges must be scanned when attendees enter Conference events where continuing education hours are available. GUESTS OF REGISTERED ATTENDEES: Guest badges will be provided for persons age 21 and older attending the Friday Night Concert. The guest badge allows entrance to the concert only. FIREARMS/WEAPONS: Firearms are prohibited on the premises of the MSU Riley Center and the host hotel - Drury Inn. FORCE MAJEURE: In the event MNA should find it necessary to cancel or postpone the MNA 2016 APRN Conference for any reason including, but not limited to, acts of nature or terrorism, low registration or other circumstances beyond MNA s control, MNA s liability shall be limited to the refund of registration fees paid to MNA. CONFERENCE ATTIRE: Attire at the MNA Conference is business casual. The MSU Riley Center strives to keep meeting rooms at a comfortable temperature, but layered clothing is strongly suggested and comfortable shoes are highly recommended. CHILDREN: Children (including infants) under the age of 16 are not allowed in APRN Conference sessions or the Exhibit Hall due to safety concerns, audio recording, and maintaining an appropriate learning environment. PHOTOGRAPHS/VIDEO: MNA will take photographs and video during the APRN Conference and reproduce them in educational, news, or promotional material whether in print, electronic, or other media including the MNA Website. By participating in the MNA APRN Conference, you grant MNA the right to use your name, photograph, and biography for such purposes. CE Session Disclosures 1) Content presented reflects the knowledge and opinion(s) of the presenters and does not necessarily reflect the positions and views of MNA. 2) Although every effort has been made to finalize presenters and their presentations, please note that all presenters and/or presentations are subject to change. 3) To receive contact hours for a session, each attendee must: A) attend the entire session, B) s your name badge at the beginning of the session, and C) complete the session evaluation on-line using your address used with registration & any other session evaluations. 4) Conflicts of Interest: Unless otherwise announced for a specific session, the planners, presenters, and content experts for MNA s CE activities have not disclosed any significant financial relationships that would constitute a conflict of interest. 5) Attendance at any conference session does not indicate or guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught. Mail/Fax Registration: Download the MNA 2016 APRN Spring Conference Registration Form. Complete the Registration Form and mail or fax the form with all required information and payment to: Mississippi Nurses Association 31 Woodgreen Place Jackson, MS Fax: (601) On-Site Registration: On-site registration will be available each day of the Conference Thursday, Apr. 21 Saturday, Apr. 23 at the MSU Riley Center, Meridian, MS. Registration will be available starting at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. There will be a $50.00 fee assessed to all on-site registrations. Registration Policies Late Registration: On-line, mailed or faxed registrations will not be accepted by the MNA office after Friday, Apr. 15. After Apr.15, additional registrations are encouraged, but must occur on-site. Cancellation/Refunds: Refunds shall be granted, according to the following: a. Refund requests must be made in writing. b. A full refund will be granted before April 13. c. No refunds will be granted after April 13, but a pre-paid registrant may send a substitute. Returned Checks/Declined Credit Cards: An administrative fee of $35 will be charged for all checks returned to MNA for insufficient funds and re-billing of credit cards.
