4 Conference Speakers Dr. Jeffery Ramirez PhD, PMHNP-BC, ARNP Associate Professor, Gonzaga University Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center, Substance Abuse Treatment Program Has over 20 years of experience in both psychiatric nursing and education. Teaches psychiatric nursing, monitoring the workforce issues. Remains in clinical practice at the VA Medical Center treating Veterans with traumatic experiences, substance abuse, and chronic mental illness. Dr. Pam Stover, DNP, MSN, PMHNP-BC, PMHCNS-BC, ARNP Clinical Assistant Professor, Washington State University, Peace Health Medical Group Behavioral Health DNP and MN degrees; certification as psych NP and CNS; post-master's certificate in gerontological nursing; experience in consultation-liaison service and integrated care; current experience working with older adults; over 35 years working in psych-mental health. Previously presented this content at the national APNA conference in Phoenix, October Dr. Carol Kottwitz, DNP, PMHCNS-BC, PMHNP-BC, ARNP Assistant Professor and Lead Faculty for PMHNP Program, Gonzaga University CK Therapeutics LLC, Owner Owner of CK Therapeutics LLC in which provides psychiatric care in Spokane via private practice. Teaches both graduate and undergraduate psychiatric nursing at Gonzaga University. Has been active in the community through NAMI. Research interest and activities include the pedagogy of suicide assessment in graduate psychiatric nursing, advanced health assessment in advanced psychiatric nursing. Donna Poole, MSN, PMHNCNS-BC, ARNP Commissioner for the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission Peninsula Community Health Services; Port Gamble S Klallam Tribe Expertise in this area comes as a gubernatorial appointed Commissioner for the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission. In that capacity, has been a Reviewing Commission Member for discipline cases over the last 10 years. Primarily reviews complaints against ARNPs. Dr. Mary Moller, DNP, PMHCNS-BC, CPRP, FAAN, ARNP Associate Professor and Coordinator PMHNP-DNP Program, Pacific Lutheran University Has lectured for over 30 years on mental health and psychopharmacology. Has written the chapters on neurobiology, psychopharmacology, and mental illness in several textbooks. Currently a prescribing ARNP and manages a full caseload of individuals with serious and persistent mental illnesses. 5 Pre Conference April 27, 2018 Registration Opens 8:00am Two Options: Conference Agenda A) Suicide Prevention (6.5 hours CE) 9:00am 5:00pm (one hour lunch on own) Carol Kottwitz and Jeffery Ramirez 1) Apply the concepts of suicide prevention. 2) Define suicide rates and trends in the State of Washington and the United States. 3) Describe risk and protective factors for suicide preventions. 4) Identify the critical components for an adequate suicide risk assessment. B) Psychopharmacology (3.25 CE) 1:30pm 5:00pm Mary Moller 1) Participants will be able to describe the concept of receptor pharmacology and the relationship of receptor function to presenting psychiatric symptoms. 2) Participants will be able to compare the neurophysiology of the physical, emotional, and cognitive symptom clusters associated with depression and anxiety. 3) Participants will be able to formulate a pharmacological treatment plan based on receptor pharmacology for individuals diagnosed with a mood and/or anxiety disorder.
