2 The impact of nursing knowledge on the quality of life experienced by the older person. The sessions provided at this conference are as relevant to the Nurse working in a specialist aged care environment as they are to the Nurse working in the Surgical Unit, Medical Ward, Medical Practice, Community Service or Emergency Department. There is a direct correlation between the knowledge and skill of the individual Nurse and the health outcomes and potential quality of life issues experienced by the older person in their care. The aim of this conference is to provide the Clinical Nurse who provides care for people over the age of 75, an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of some of the key areas of clinical practice that can impact on the health care outcomes of their clients. With an ageing society the group of clients aged 75 years and over will continue to form a greater percentage of the clients utilising health care services. As Nurses, we have a responsibility to be aware of the specialist knowledge required to competently care for this client group. The sessions are provided as a mixture of face to face sessions (FF), selfdirected reading material (SD), and recorded webinars (W). The webinars and the self directed reading material are provided to attendees prior to the commencement of the conference. The attendee can view the webinars prior to the commencement of the conference as a self directed CPD activity or the session will also be presented at the conference as per the program and the attendee can view the session in the conference room with a course facilitator present.

3 The Presenters: Cheryl is a Registered Nurse and holds a Masters Degree in Quality in Health Care. Cheryl has worked in both the acute and aged care sectors as a clinician and extensively in health care education and management. Cheryl has a passion for wound care and has lectured on the subject extensively both in Australia and internationally. Cheryl is the author of Wound Assessment Practical Tips which is available free to download to Members of the Nurses for Nurses Network. Her work has made her acutely aware of the importance of keeping up to date with best practice guidelines and their practical application in the workplace. Nicole Nash Arnold is a Nursing Career Coach who helps great Nurses transform into respected leaders. She shares her 15 years of experience in both senior and executive health leadership roles to germinate great leadership. Clinically, Nicole has extensive experience in managing teams to achieve the best possible outcomes available. She has over ten years perioperative experience and has also worked for a number of years in Nurse educator and management roles. Nicole has post graduate qualifications in peri operative Nursing and currently holds a Masters in Nursing. Nicole is a member of the International Coaches Federation. Sue is a Registered Nurse and holds a Masters Degree in Primary Health Care majoring in Palliative Care. Sue has extensive experience both as a clinician, educator, and senior manager in the aged care and palliative care settings. Sue is passionate about making a difference to the way in which people experience the health care system. Healthcare should be delivered by competent, knowledgeable individuals to ensure the best possible experience for the recipient of that care. Nursing is a fabulous profession the backbone of the healthcare system, it is the knowledge of the individual Nurse that has an immediate impact on the happiness of the person in their care

Visit the charming town of La Orotava and admire the grand houses and 18th century houses Enjoy lunch and shopping in the resort town of Puerto de la Cruz Networking and Reflection Session Meet with other conference attendees to reflect on the events of the day and discuss Nursing issues surrounding the care of the older client. 6 DAY 8: MON 27 FEB FUNCHAL, PORTUGAL This highlights of Madeira optional half day tour begins with a visit to the quaint fishing village of Camara de Lobos, from this viewpoint, you will see one of Europes highest sea cliffs with its coastal scenery and sub tropical greenery. You will also visit Eira do Serrado where you can view down to the nuns valley and up to the highest peaks of Madeira Networking and Reflection Session Meet with other conference attendees to reflect on the events of the day and discuss Nursing issues surrounding the care of the older client. DAY 9: TUE 28 FEB AT SEA W, FF Presenter: Nicole Nash Arnold Nursing Leadership: The heart of clinical Nursing SD, FF Presenter: Sue Walker Palliative Care: moving into end stage disease the person, their family, and greater emphasis on symptom control.
