Pediatric specialty care physicians from Miller Children s Hospital Specialty Group are providing inpatient consultations for pediatric inpatients in the Torrance Memorial pediatric unit as part of their partnership to build a comprehensive pediatric specialty hospital program. Pediatric specialties represented include pediatric orthopedics, general surgery, pulmonary, gastroenterology, infectious disease and more. We look forward to combining the resources of our two outstanding facilities to offer South Bay families specialized pediatric care close to home, says Craig Leach, president and CEO of Torrance Memorial Medical Center. The physicians at Miller Children s are highly skilled in their sub-specialties and care for some of the most complex pediatric cases. It is a tremendous benefit to our community to be able to offer this breadth of expertise within our hospital. Over the years physicians from Miller Children s have had a strong presence in our community, with many of its physician specialists already caring for our pediatric patients at Torrance Memorial. This partnership is the perfect way to ensure that care not only continues, but expands during a particularly challenging time in health care. Children s health care needs are different from adults, explains Diana Hendel, PharmD, CEO of Miller Children s Hospital Long Beach, Long Beach Memorial and Community Hospital Long Beach that are part of Memorial Care Health System. As pediatric sub-specialists, our physicians have completed years of additional training to care for children and their still growing bodies. Our physicians are excited to join with Torrance Memorial in expanding this specialized care to South Bay families. Children s hospitals are the backbone of the nation s pediatric health care infrastructure, adds Barry Arbuckle, PhD, president and CEO of MemorialCare Health System, which includes six hospitals and more than 200 care locations in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The opportunity for Miller Children s to expand its reach and join forces with Torrance Memorial will result in great benefits for South Bay families and physicians. We are looking forward to this long-term strategic collaboration with Torrance Memorial, one of the region's premier hospitals. 1

2 Tap and Go With TAG Coming Soon to the Lundquist Tower! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: What is Tap and Go? A: Tap and Go utilizes an application called Imprivata OneSign that uses a single username and password to gain access to several key applications on clinical workstations. Q: How does TAG work? A: Once enrolled, users can tap a badge on a card reader, which will automatically log the user into the workstation. If the user taps into another workstation the current session moves to it automatically. There s no need to reopen applications or files on which the user had been working. Q: How difficult is it to enroll? A: It s simple. Enrolling requires only your badge and less than two minutes to complete. Q: What password should I use? A: Tap and Go uses your Torrance Memorial Active Directory login and password. If you do not have these already, they will be given to you at the time of training. Q: What if the Tap and Go card reader isn t working?: A: You re still able to login to any TAG workstation with your username and password using the workstation s keyboard. Q: How do I ensure a workstation is secure once I walk away? A: Once you tap your badge on the reader, your session will close and the screen will return to the OneSign credentials screen. Q: What happens if my password expires? A: Imprivata OneSign will prompt you to fill in your old password and then choose a new password. Once Imprivata OneSign registers the change, you re able to start using your badge to access workstations again. Still need Help? Call the TMMC Service Desk x4357 2

9 American Heart Association s Heart Walk For over 20 years Torrance Memorial has had a team of walkers that help raise money and awareness for the AHA by participating in the American Heart Association s Heart Walk. Employees from many different departments sign up as team captains and come up with very clever team names and then the competition begins to have the biggest team, the most funds raised, and most importantly log the most amount of steps taken to train for the walk. Every year we make a unique team t-shirt and registered walkers help distribute the t-shirt for a $25 donation to the AHA which can be used toward their personal fund raising goal. Last year we had 140 walkers and raised $16,000. With your help our team can be bigger and better just like your fitness level. Please go to heartwalkla.org and register as a team captain or find a team to join. Be a part of the tradition and register to walk today.
