CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES Following this conference, attendees should be able to: Identify misleading or misinterpreted information found in the medical literature Describe the latest approaches to managing heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux Discuss the evaluation and management of common causes of red eyes Identify common ophthalmologic emergencies Identify strategies to facilitate improved care for patients with bipolar disorder Summarize effective strategies for managing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) List at least three opportunities to improve care for the frail elderly patient Review key studies published in the last year that will impact clinical practice Explore opportunities for shifting from a disease-focused model of health care to one of patient empowerment Employ GOLD guidelines for improved management of obstructive lung disease patients Summarize the role of alternative therapies for managing obstructive sleep apnea Outline effective treatment approaches for refractory hypertension Illustrate the clinical importance of an elevated UACR as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and the progression of chronic kidney disease Identify effective strategies for improving diabetes management to prevent complications ABOUT THE GRAND WAILEA RESORT The Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, is situated on 40 lush tropical acres fronting Wailea Beach on the southwest shore of Maui. ACCREDITATION Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CME CREDIT Sharp HealthCare designates this live activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Peak Travel s office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. PST. The conference rate at the Grand Wailea is $180 plus tax per night for terrace room (standard room) or $239 plus tax per night for ocean view rooms, single or double occupancy. Please note there will be an additional charge of $50 per person plus tax per night for more than two persons in any room, with a maximum of four persons per room. No charge for children 17 years of age and younger staying in the same room with parents using existing bedding. There will be a $10 daily resort charge, per room, per night, plus tax posted to the guest room. Peak Travel will share what is included in the resort fee.
