2 Rad Onc 2014: March 7 9, 2014 Dan L. Duncan Building (CPB), Floor 8 Conference Center 1155 Pressler Street, Houston, Texas SAM-Based Review of Current Cancer Management Goal Evaluation Rad Onc 2014 is a conference intended to best describe the practices of Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Many radiation oncologists and other cancer providers are unaware of current literature and randomized studies that may alter the dose, targeting and technique used in radiation treatment. This 3-day conference will cover the most recent advances in central nervous system tumors, breast cancer treatment, lymphoma, head and neck, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecology, sarcoma and lung cancers. We will share observations and current studies underway at the institution. Many practitioners have significant gaps in their familiarity to assess patients for therapy, and many have not yet encountered specific challenges in radiation oncology treatment. A course evaluation form will provide participants with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics. Educational Objectives At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to: Evaluate appropriate candidates for radiation treatment according to MD Anderson/NCCN guidelines (Knowledge, Competence, Performance); Demonstrate knowledge of current target delineation techniques at MD Anderson and utilize these techniques in practice (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes); Discuss and implement recent advances in Radiation Oncology treatment delivery for selected cancers to improve patient outcomes (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes); and Demonstrate knowledge of Radiation Treatment planning for selected cancers for optimal outcomes (Knowledge, Competence, Performance) Target Audience Accreditation/Credit Designation Physicians is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. designates this live activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This activity will offer a maximum of ABR SAM Credits. CME Certificates and Attendance Verification Certificates Certificates awarding AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM, SAM Credit, or certificates documenting attendance will be distributed to participants when an individual departs the conference. To obtain a CME certificate, physicians must submit a completed evaluation questionnaire and a CME Verification Form. Upon request, a record of attendance (certificate) will be provided on-site to other health care professionals for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations.
