2 Conference Overview Join us for the annual trauma symposium hosted by Allegheny General and Forbes Hospitals. This year s day-long conference will include an array of topics for the interdisciplinary trauma team including mass causality military vs civilian, compassion fatigue, challenges in a rural setting, and workstations for Active Shooter and Stop The Bleed training. Intended Audience This course is designed for physicians, nurses, prehospital care providers and others interested in trauma care. Accreditation Credits: This conference will provide a maximum of 6.5 hours of education Physicians: is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC): accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits from organizations accredited by the ACCME. American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP): accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits from organizations accredited by the ACCME. American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA): accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits from organizations accredited by the ACCME. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 6.5 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program. Social Workers: This program is approved through the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-PA) offering 6.5 Continuing Education Credits. Attendees will learn simple, practical, and effective techniques to neutralize an active shooter when running and hiding are no longer options. **Stop the Bleed Participants will learn/review hemorrhage control basics and gain techniques for teaching bleeding control skills to a non-clinical audience. There will also be the opportunity to practice bleeding control techniques using a high-fidelity trauma simulator provided by AHN s STAR Center. Attendees will receive information on how to register as a Stop the Bleed Instructor as well as how to plan and implement courses.
