2 2 GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE Happy Holidays! As you thumb through the program guide this month, you ll notice a number of holiday specials, including a new Wyoming Chronicle: Lander Community Christmas on Friday, December 19, which features a performance by Buffalo Bill Boycott. We ll be taping this program live in Lander at the newly rebuilt community center on December 5. If you re in the area, we hope you ll join us for what is sure to be a memorable performance! We also hope you ll join us during our Winter Membership Festival and consider a generous, end-of-year gift. With musical specials like The Midtown Men, 50 Years with Peter, Paul & Mary, and A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen, along with our popular local documentaries End of Track and 100 Years on the Lincoln Highway, there s much to support in both national and local programming. Good news for all you Downton Abbey fans - Season 5 premieres on January 4! To refresh your memory on the intricate story lines, we ve scheduled a Downton Marathon with back-toback episodes of Season 4 on Sunday, December 21 from 6pm midnight, and December 28 from 6-10:30pm. We will be partnering with the University of Wyoming Department of Theater and Dance and Wyoming Public Media in an outreach initiative in support of the upcoming second season of the PBS series Shakespeare Uncovered, scheduled to air in late January/early February. Our plans include a screening of the film in January; in March, we will be joining forces with UW theater students in a statewide community tour in which the students will be directing and performing a selection of Shakespeare s plays in the style of the acclaimed Actors from the London Stage. Finally, we are the recipient of an outreach/engagement grant in conjunction with Ken Burns upcoming documentary series The Story of Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies. Our efforts will include screenings and discussions around the state with medical professionals and those who ve been affected by the disease. Stay tuned for more information.
