These funds will make loans ranging from $5,000- $50,000 available to existing and start-up small businesses. ($5,000 to $25,000 for startup businesses and $5,000 to $50,000 for existing businesses). These additional funds are invaluable to small businesses seeking to start and expand in District 10. Time and time again I hear that one of the largest barriers to starting or expanding a small business in the City is access to capital, and this loan fund directly addresses that challenge. These funds are available to applicants that have limited or no access to a bank loan and plan to hire at least 1 new employee. As a co-sponsor of this legislation, Supervisor Cohen looks forward to its final passage later this month and to its benefit for District 10 businesses. If you are interested in learning more about the loan program and finding out if you are eligible, please visit the Working Solutions website: gloanfund/ Virtual Job Fair: City Partners with Technology Community to Post Jobs Improvements are coming to HireSF.org, San Francisco s job matching system, designed to make it easier for companies to access a pool of local talent eager to work for the growing number of pioneering companies in San Francisco. Housing Trust Fund Working Group Created This broad working group, convened by Mayor Lee, is tasked with designing a ballot measure that would create a permanent source of revenue to fund the creation of housing that is affordable to low income, moderate income and middle-class households in San Francisco. Our office participated in the first meeting and will continue to participate in the group as this process continues. We are looking forward to creative ways to fund more affordable housing and workforce housing in our City. Stay tuned for more updates. Tony Bennett Finds His Heart in San Francisco 50 Years Later San Francisco delivered a special valentine to Tony Bennett,

We look forward to working with City agencies, the Event Authority and the community to ensure that this event benefits all of our City s neighborhoods. Rebuild Potrero Hearing Draws Dozens Supervisor Cohen convened a public hearing at the Board of Supervisors Land Use and Economic Development Committee to hear the latest update on the Rebuild Potrero Project and hear from residents and neighbors about concerns and priorities for the project. This project is a tremendous opportunity to revitalize the Potrero Annex/Terrace and it is important for everyone to share thoughts and stay engaged in the planning process. Events of the Month Supervisor Cohen Visits Thurgood Marshall High School Earlier this month Supervisor Cohen meet with young minds at Thurgood Marshall High School to explain and discuss the benefits of public service. She shared her experiences growing up in San Francisco, perusing higher education and how she has dedicated her career to public service.

4 Supervisor Malia Cohen at Laguna Honda Hospital Celebrating Black History Month This month has been filled with wonderful community events celebrating Black History Month. One of them took place with members of our senior community at Laguna Honda Hospital. Supervisor Cohen joined Laguna Honda staff, residents and patients to share in Black History Month festivities. Supervisor Cohen Joins Honorees at the San Francisco General Heroes & Hearts Luncheon This year s Hearts & Heroes Luncheon raised $1.5 million for services at San Francisco General Hospital. This year a number of heroes were honored for their advocacy and work on behalf of the community and the City. These honorees included: Dr. Richard Coughlin (co-founder of San Francisco General Hospital s Institute for Global Orthopedics and Traumatology), Harlan Kelly, Jr. (Project Pull science internship co-founder and Assistant General Manager for the Public Utilites Commission), Marlene Tran (District 10 s very own Visitacion Valley Asian Alliance founder), and Martha Ryan (Homeless Prenatal Program founder).

5 Celebrating In Style at the National Coalition of 100 Black Women s Annual Hats and Gloves Tea The Cohen Office joined the National Coalition of 100 Black Women at their annual Hats and Gloves Tea to celebrate and honor accomplishments and commitments of leading African American Women in San Francisco. Supervisor Cohen Honor s District 10 Superstar Raquel Miller for Black History Month Supervisor Cohen selected District 10 resident and boxer Raquel Miller as her honoree for the Board of Supervisors Black History Month celebration. 6 and signed up for boxing lessons at our City s own Mission Recreation Center. Good luck Raquel! Bayview Community Meeting Envisions an Improved Third Street On February 23, Supervisor Cohen and staff joined James Moore and other neighbors and merchants to discuss priorities for revitalizing the Third Street merchant corridor. This planning work will be used to advance priorities for public safety and economic development in the coming year. Code Enforcement Task Force Sees Results As a result of Supervisor Cohen s ongoing coordination with multiple City departments and regional public safety agencies on copper theft a successful police sting operation at the Hunters Point Shipyard resulted in three arrests! Theft of metal causes millions of dollars of damage a year to public buildings and even individual homeowners. Read more here:
