2 GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE Summer cometh is it the season for reruns? Not on Wyoming PBS! This is a great month for viewing with several new programs premiering: First Peoples (cover photo), Poldark/ Masterpiece Theatre on Sundays starting June 21, a new documentary celebrating the 50th anniversary of the wilderness act 50 Years of Wilderness on Tuesday, June 2; a photographic memory of Heart Mountain on Monday, June 22 at 9 pm -- and some archival fun too with the repeat of Wyoming Voices, a series produced in 2004 by Wyoming PBS and Debbie Hammons. It comes out of the vault on Saturday, June 6 to celebrate Wyoming s 125th anniversary of statehood. By the time you receive this guide, my successor will have already been announced, but I don t know who the lucky person is at this point. We had a very strong pool of candidates, and I m sure the screening committee made an excellent choice. We ll provide more information on the new General Manager for Wyoming PBS next month. Wyoming PBS is undertaking a new initiative with the Wyoming Veterans Commission as we honor Vietnam Veterans by collecting their stories during the Welcome Home reunion to be held in Casper June 4-7. As part of the celebration, we ll have a small studio set up at the reunion to capture the experiences of our Wyoming Vietnam vets, and ultimately you will see those stories on Wyoming PBS and on our website. If you are a Vietnam vet, and want to participate, get details at wvvr.wyo.gov. Finally, if you know of someone who has expressed disappointment in not being able to receive Wyoming PBS through their satellite provider (either DISH Network or DirectTV) - now is the time for them to make some comments to the FCC. Encourage your friends to go to our website and look for the Satellite Comment information. If we generate enough comments to the FCC, we are hoping they will recognize the way satellite services deprive Wyoming citizens of local news, weather, cultural documentaries, public affairs information and emergency alerts, and will change their rules. But folks need to hurry and respond before June 11. Thanks, as always, for your support and contributions. Ruby Calvert General Manager Station Happenings Wyoming PBS hit the road in April with the popular PBS Kids character Whyatt from SUPER WHY! making stops in Riverton, Cody, Powell, Sheridan, Gillette and Wright.
