First and foremost is IPP Mike Cutillo for his year of selfless dedication and service and also continuing be a major presence helping with our Friday Fish Dinners and 210 Club, just name a couple of things. Not only do I thank you, but I m confident the whole lodge thanks you as well. Next is our outgoing council members, outgoing IPP Jamie Kaim, Trustees Dick Goldsne and Frank Guererri, Sr. Thank you for your service. Thank you our membership for attending our joint installation ceremony with the GAIL. It was nice see such a great showing of support. I am grateful for the opportunity serve as your President of this great lodge. The upcoming year looks very promising as we already have the ball rolling on many events, projects and activities. Our Friday Fish Dinners will continue until April 17th and the annual 210 Club kicked off on March 13th. (Tickets still available - contact IPP Mike Cutillo or the lodge). Our annual Festival will be held on August 7th & 8th, and we already have a tentative date set for another event at the Smith Opera House on Ocber 17th during Italian Heritage Month. These just a very few of the events coming up. I look forward working with Vice President Paul D Amico and our new council as well as with President Cindy Woodhams and the GAIL members. We have some new faces on our committees and I feel confident we will move forward effectively and efficiently. As always one vital committee that always needs help is bingo (which pays many of our bills). If you can sp a Sunday afternoon (or evening after Easter), please sp down and pitch in for a couple of hours. As the year progresses, I hope see many of you at our various dinners and activities. It was nice ceremony, followed by a very good dinner, and a great cooperative effort by our two lodges. Also, thanks go out our deputies and state officers for officiating. I ask that all members take full advantage of our lodge building As many lodges do not have buildings, having our own home allows us do many events and activities that other lodges just can t do. Sp in for a drink at the bar, enjoy a Friday fish dinner, take in a bocce game on a Tuesday evening. We have many different events and activities and we welcome all participate for a couple of hours when able and enjoy the comradery of our fellow Italian Americans. Bring a friend or two who may eventually want join OSIA. I d like thank our lodge kitchen manager Tony DiCostanzo for putting out the series of Friday Night Dinners that began in February and will continue through April 17th. Thanks also go out our volunteers - Skip Bonetti, Steve Muzzi, Frank Guererri, Tom DiCostanzo (both Sr. and Jr.), Mike Cutillo and all others who have pitched in make the dinners a success. We also thank our cook, Rich Evangelista and our wait staff for the good job they do week in and week out. Look for Tues. Steak Nights begin in June.

We have several applications that have been filled out and we hope have many of these new members come in the lodge that night. A good turnout of our members always leaves a good impression on new members so please try attend that evening. A light dinner will follow the meeting. District Essay Contest Geneva Lodge 2397, GAIL Lodge 2397A and the Vincent Lombardi Lodge 2270 of Rochester sponsoring an essay contest created by the Commission of Social Justice of the Order Sons of Italy in America. Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students being asked interview senior citizens of Italian descent in order capture the oral hisry of everyday living Italians. The goal is collect and preserve their memories before the sries lost future generations. A monetary award will be given two winners at each grade level. Any student, especially those of Italian descent, who is interested can receive an application before March 20th. There eleven other cash prizes ranging from $5000 $500. The drawings will take place on Sat. May 30th when our delegates at the State Convention.

5 La Gazzetta page 5 Grand Lodge of NY $100 Raffle QUICK SHOTS The Grand Lodge of New York has distributed 1000 tickets for their annual $100 Raffle fundraiser. The proceeds go fund NYSOSIA charitable programs. Our Geneva Lodge has 20 tickets sell. There is a tal of $34,500 in cash prizes be won, with 1st prize worth $20,000. There eleven other cash prizes ranging from $5000 $500. The drawings will take place on Sat. May 30th when our delegates at the State Convention. The prize breakdown is as follows: 1st prize - $20,000 2nd prize - $5000 3rd prize - $2,000 4th prize - $1,000 5th prize - $500 We have approx 11 weeks sell our allotted tickets. Please consider buying one for yourself, or sharing one with family members or friends. If buying one is out of reach for you, but you d like buy a $10 or $20 sh of a ticket, see Tony Cannuli in our office. (We had five members sh a ticket a few years back and they won the $20,000). Musselman Triathlon The Geneva Lodge is looking forward once again hosting the annual Musselman pre event dinner on Sat. July 11th. Last year we served approx. 270 contestants and family members a ziti and meatball dinner with dessert and drinks. It was a great team effort from our members and it will take that same kind of effort this year. If you can help on that Saturday, please contact Pres. Sam or the lodge. Musselman is a Half Iron Triathlon that has been held in Geneva for over a decade and attracts thousands the a for a full weekend of activities. New Bar Committee A new bar committee has been formed and will begin working on creating some new events for your enjoyment. If there is some specific type of event you d like see the lodge do, contact President Sam Cosentino or sp at the bar and leave us a note. Summer Parties The warm weather is fast approaching and maybe you re looking for a place hold that graduation party, family reunion, or other event where our pavilion might come in handy. We have a few dates still open on the calendar. Call Tony DiCostanzo at or the lodge find out what dates we have available.
