1 Hosted by Cranston Western Little League Baseball for a week..memories for a lifetime To: State Champion Manager From: Bob Rocchio, Tournament Director /10 Eastern Region Little League Tournament August 3-11, 2018 Congratulations on winning your State Championship! Now, it is on to Cranston, Rhode Island for your participation in the /10 Eastern Region Little League Tournament. The Cranston Western Little League has been working very hard over the past 6 months putting together a quality baseball tournament for your players, coaches and parents. In preparation of your arrival, here are some things you need to be aware of: 1) Call me as soon as you get this packet so we can review The night you win is fine; I will be waiting for your call. I want to talk to you not a coach nor team mom/dad. 2) I need your roster (names and numbers), coaches and managers names, and league president. You can send that information to me at bgn98@cox.net. Time is short to put together an ad book with team rosters. Make this a top priority! 3) There are many hotels to choose from in the area, but I strongly suggest you look at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI. It will be tournament headquarters; most of our meetings will be there. It is very assessable to the practice fields and main playing field. Book your rooms early. For reservations, contact Jill Cosgrove directly at ext. 7959
2 4) We want to make sure your stay with us is a pleasant one so we are assigning one of our volunteers to your team during your stay. Please have your team mom/dad contact your team host. The contact information is listed on the team mom/dad page. The team host will want to introduce herself and discuss ticket sales for the tournament banquet. Also, we would like to have your team mom/dad at the manager s meeting on Friday, August 3, at 8:00 p.m. to meet our committee person assigned to your team. 5) Please bring your state championship banner for team events. 6) I will also need all of your documentation to include: affidavits, 3 proofs of residence, copy of the birth certificate, map. We will review as part of our regional responsibilities. 7) We would like you checked in on Friday, August 3rd. Play begins on Saturday, August 4th. There will be a mandatory meeting of managers on Friday, August 3rd at 8:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza. 8) Players and coaches will be treated to a tournament banquet on Saturday, August 4th, at the Crowne Plaza. Tickets are available for family members. Please see the included banquet order form to order family member tickets. We are asking the team mom to get a count and to collect all of the banquet money to be turned in at the manager s meeting on Friday, August 3rd, at 8:00 p.m. 9) Enclosed you will find the weekly schedule of games as well as practice schedules, we can discuss any concerns or questions at meeting. Call me for anything (401) Best of Luck! Bob Rocchio Eastern Regional Tournament Director Steven Rocchio Eastern Regional Tournament Co-Director
3 Baseball for a week..memories for a lifetime Welcome Letter from Cranston Western Little League Congratulations to the State Champions from the New England Region (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island) and the Mid-Atlantic Region (New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland) who are here competing for the title of /10 Eastern Regional Champion! We are thrilled again to host all of you that have achieved the privilege of attending this year! It takes a small army to make this event successful. Our team of volunteers begins preparing for this event shortly after each year s champion is crowned. I am grateful for all their help and ask that you pass a thank you along to any of the volunteers that you happen to cross paths with this week. I would like to personally thank all the volunteers and sponsors who help make this great event possible. Our league is responsible for of all the coordination and finances associated with this tournament and it is our sponsors that truly make it possible. While you are in town this week we ask that you please patronize the many sponsors who have been generous enough to help fund this event. Our staff has created a number of ways to provide this information to all our attendees, but please don t hesitate to ask questions to any of our volunteers. In closing, we set out to make this event as memorable & fun for the children as possible! We understand that we will have a bump or two along the way, so at any time if you have questions, need assistance, or have any concerns please seek out myself, or one of our volunteers and we will do everything we can to make this week as enjoyable as we can for all! Congratulations again to all the players and their families! We thank you in advance for your support of this great tournament! Sincerely, Bob Rocchio Eastern Region Tournament Director Steven Piscopiello CWLL President
