2 GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE Wyoming is going eclipse crazy! WyomingPBS will live stream the eclipse on our website and FaceBook page. NOVA will air a special on the eclipse that night, and they have asked WyomingPBS to provide them with some iconic Wyoming eclipse footage. We ll have crews in the Wind River Mountains that day as well as around Central Wyoming. Some of our shots might make it in the final NOVA. Also, we re taping a special Wyoming Chronicle on the eclipse to air in September. We ve received some very good news on funding. WyomingPBS has 50 low-power translators serving communities both large and small throughout the state. Almost all of them are on frequencies that the FCC could reclaim. Depending on the number of frequencies wanted by the FCC, our cost of replacement could be as high as $250,000. T-Mobile has signed an agreement to pay the costs associated with relocating displaced translators for PBS stations nationwide! The FCC has not set a firm timetable for the displacement. Many technical issues need to be resolved at the FCC, such as what replacement frequencies are available. In any case, because of T-Mobile, the funds will not have to come from either the Legislature or the members of WyomingPBS! We were pleased to provide a live stream of the recent Education Funding Recalibration meeting to local and statewide educators. See below for more information. Finally, there s something missing from the WyomingPBS August schedule - a Membership Drive on our main channel! Across the country, PBS stations are pledging in August for a week. Instead, we ll pledge for a few nights on our Create / Encore channel, available over the air and on Charter Cable. Because of your support, WyomingPBS only does three major Membership drives each year instead of four done by most PBS stations. Thank you for watching. Thank you for your support. And thank you for being part of our family. WyomingPBS STAFF Terry Dugas General Manager Lonny Fairfield Chief Technology Officer Kyle Nicholoff Production Manager Jennifer Amend Director of Marketing and Outreach/Program Guide Editor WyomingPBS Foundation STAFF Judy Finch Administrative Assistant Kathy Stilson Membership Coordinator The WyomingPBS program guide is published monthly by WyomingPBS, 2660 Peck Ave., Riverton, WY and mailed to those who contribute $50 ($25 senior rate) or more annually to WyomingPBS. Under IRS guidelines, the estimated value of this program guide is not substantial, therefore, if this is the only thank you gift received by the contributor, the full amount of the gift is tax deductible. Donations which are eligible for other thank you gifts are tax deductible, less the reasonable cost of the gift. WyomingPBS is licensed to Central Wyoming College, and complies with all state and federal laws. As part of those regulations, the station must not share our member lists with any political parties or candidates; we do however occasionally share member names and addresses with other partner nonprofits. We offer you the ability to opt out of any other distribution, and you may indicate your preference by contacting the station at the phone numbers below, or sending an to: kathy@wyoptv.org. Terry Dugas General Manager Station Happenings An overflow crowd attended the Wyoming Legislature s June 12 meeting of the Select Committee on School Finance Recalibration and the Joint Revenue Committee, which was live streamed by WyomingPBS. The committees met to discuss solutions to the projected budget shortfall for funding related to public education in the state of Wyoming. The stream is an example of WyomingPBS s expanded legislative coverage and can be viewed at wyomingpbs.org/legislature. KCWC - TV/WyomingPBS wyomingpbs.org 2660 Peck Ave., Riverton, Wyoming (307) or
