2 GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE As you know, the President s skinny budget eliminates funding for public broadcasting. That s about 27% of WyomingPBS s income. Eliminating federal funding will allow each Wyoming resident to purchase one extra cup of coffee.a year. WyomingPBS enjoys strong support from our state Legislators because they believe in our mission of service to the people of Wyoming. I recently met with Representative Cheney, Senators Barrasso and Enzi. I think they also value our 34 years of service to the state. The federal budget process is long and complex. I believe, in the end, funding for public broadcasting will be preserved. Still, next time you see one of our Legislators, say hello and thank them for their support of WyomingPBS. Next, some digital news. Jennifer Amend, our Director of Marketing and Outreach, was one of 25 PBS station representatives to be awarded a Digital Immersion grant. Jennifer will become part of a group of digital professionals who will explore how WyomingPBS can reach citizens of the state through the Internet, social media, and Over the Top receivers like Roku, Chromecast, and others. And, Abigail Hurley, 5th grade teacher from Sheridan, has been chosen by PBS as Wyoming s representative in their Digital Innovators program. She will receive training focused on digital best practices for the classroom and access to exclusive resources from PBS LearningMedia. Abigail will then work with WyomingPBS Education Coordinator Carol Garber to share that training with teachers across the state. Finally, we have some very special shows for you this month. The new season of Farm to Fork premiers, along with the ever popular National Memorial Day Concert. Finally, we premiere the series Victorian Slum House. A Victorian tenement has been recreated and volunteers will experience the tough living and working conditions of the Victorian poor. You can see if Dickens was accurate in his depiction of Victorian England. An always, thank you for watching and for being part of the WyomingPBS family. Terry Dugas General Manager Station Happenings WyomingPBS will be hosting three screenings of our latest local documentary The Hidden Falls of Yellowstone at the end of this month in Cody, Dubois and Jackson. Invitations will be sent to all our members and an announcement will be posted on our Facebook page in the coming weeks. Hidden Falls is scheduled to debut in June. If you d like more information about the screening events, contact Jennifer Amend at WyomingPBS Staff Terry Dugas General Manager Lonny Fairfield Chief Technology Officer Kyle Nicholoff Production Manager Jennifer Amend Director of Marketing and Outreach/Program Guide Editor WyomingPBS Foundation Staff Judy Finch Administrative Assistant Kathy Stilson Membership Coordinator The WyomingPBS program guide is published monthly by WyomingPBS, 2660 Peck Ave., Riverton, WY and mailed to those who contribute $60 ($25 senior rate) or more annually to WyomingPBS.
