Lowcountry Cajun Festival Sunday, April 8, 12-6 p.m. James Island County Park Bringing Louisiana to the Lowcountry, Cajun Fest is a full-day of foot-stompin Zydeco music, Cajun and Creole foods, children s activities and all around ragin Cajun entertainment! Cajun, Creole and other foods will be available for purchase. Carpooling is recommended. No coolers, outside beverages, or pets permitted. Charleston Outdoor Festival Saturday, April 20 Sunday, April 21, 9 a.m. 4 p.m. James Island County Park Anyone who enjoys being active in the great outdoors will find excitement at the Charleston Outdoor Festival! The weekend festival includes a multitude of outdoor recreation activities like mountain biking, slack lining, archery, climbing, and disc golf, open to all ages. It also features the East Coast Canoe and Kayak Symposium, one of the country s premier showcases of canoeing, kayaking and stand up paddleboarding. Try out equipment, compete in tournaments and other hands-on activities, and learn everything from the basics to expert skills in each sport. Park admission starts at $2 per person. To try activities, get the Try It pass for $10. Or, register for the symposium for classes, demos and much more. Pass Holder Introduction to Climbing: Technique 101 The goal of this program is to provide an in-depth, hands-on, workshop of basic technique in order to successfully improve your rock climbing skills. He is co-founder of the Poets Respond to Race initiative and co-editor of its first anthology, Hand in Hand: Poets Respond to Race. April 8 Sun 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Course # Meets at: McLeod Plantation Historic Site Fee: Free with regular park admission Baptist Hill Beginners Tennis Our beginner class will offer players a great place to start. Participants will develop hand-eye coordination and agility, perform racquet-handling skills, and become familiar with the tennis court. Instructors will work on building the foundation and cultivating a love of the game through basic strokes and fun games associated with tennis. Participants are often granted access to places typically not open. Follow McLeod Plantation Historic Site on Facebook for updates on topics.
