2 Why Should You Attend NOVA s 38 th Annual Meeting? Join us in Richmond, Virginia to hear dynamic presentations from VA nurses, national nursing organizations, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other healthcare professionals on the future of nursing, and how VA nurses provide evidence based care for America s Heroes every day. This year s conference will provide tremendous learning opportunities, with 12 educational sessions and the opportunity to earn 12.5 continuing education credits. 3 PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES PURPOSE The purpose of this program is to provide attendees with information that will enhance their ability to empower the nursing profession and provide evidence based care for America s Heroes. OBJECTIVES Upon completion of the Annual Meeting, participants will be able to: Identify and describe the VHA s Whole Health Initiative and its importance to the future of VA health care. Describe the benefits of Telehealth. Describe how grass roots legislative initiatives provide the foundation for making positive change. Describe the difference between Hospice and Palliative Care. Describe the application of Evidence Based Practice in daily practice. Identify the signs, overt and covert, of bullying. Summarize the direction of nursing within the Department of Veterans Affairs including Full Practice Authority. Describe and appreciate the impact and extent of crisis deployment. The Nurses Organization of Veterans Affairs (NOVA) is accredited with distinction as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. In order to receive full contact hour credit for this continuing nursing education activity, you must attend, at minimum, 90% of scheduled learning activities, participate in individual or group learning activities as required, and complete an evaluation. A conflict of interest exists when an individual is in a position to control or influence the content of an educational activity and has a financial relationship with a commercial interest, the products or services of which are pertinent to the content of the educational activity. There are currently no conflicts of interest for any of the individuals participating in the planning of this activity, subject matter experts, or speakers who have disclosed no relevant financial, professional, or personal relationship with any commercial companies pertaining to this activity. If any potential conflicts of interest develop, they will be identified. Names of sponsors and/or exhibitors providing commercial support for this program will be identified before the program begins. The Nurses Organization of Veterans Affairs accredited provider status refers only to continuing nursing education activities and does not imply that there is real or implied endorsement of any product, service, or company referred to in this activity nor of any company subsidizing costs related to the activity.

The registration fee includes access to all educational sessions, exhibit hall, receptions, coffee breaks and one free event pass to the Richmond Folk Festival. Meals are not provided by NOVA. 7 REGISTRATION Cancellation Policy Cancellations must be submitted in writing to Victoria Converse via fax: by no later than September 13, No refunds will be issued after September 13, 2018.A $25 processing fee will be charged for all cancellations. Refunds are processed after the Annual Meeting. Event Data Disclosure Policy By registering or this event, registrants give their consent that NOVA may use the data collected during the registration process to notify them with updates and information about this event and future event promotions. NOVA can process the data collected via this registration form provided within the framework of the conference and allow photographs to be made during the conference. This includes, unless registered participants object, all handling needed for the attendee s participation at the event and for the drafting of a list of participants which will be distributed at the conference, and placing photographs in the pictures gallery accessible only by participants and NOVA members, in the NOVA newsletter or selecting some for articles on the conference in web/printed publications.
