3 Faculty GINA BORING, MSN, RN, NE-BC, is the director of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program efforts and Ohio Partnership for Excellence at Aultman Hospital in Canton, OH. Prior to being appointed director for Aultman Hospital, she was an emergency department staff nurse for nearly 20 years and an emergency department education coordinator for one year. She is an adjunct faculty member at the Aultman College of Nursing and site coordinator for the NDNQI database. LAURA FEDGE, RN, BSN, is an intensive-care staff nurse and chair of the performance improvement (PI) and research council at Georgetown University Hospital (GUH) in Washington, DC, which recently received the Beacon Award for critical care excellence. She joined the hospitalwide PI and research council in 2003 and was elected chair in As an active advocate of shared governance, she works closely with other councils to promote designation at GUH and other area hospitals. BARBARA HANNON, RN, MSN, CPHQ, has been the coordinator of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program effort for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) in Iowa City since Prior to being appointed the Magnet Recognition Program coordinator for UIHC, she was an advanced practice nurse in nursing research and has been an emergency department nurse at the institution for more than a decade. In her current position, she has helped mentor multiple healthcare facilities on the journey to designation. KATHERINE RILEY, MSN, RN, CNA, BC, is the vice president of nursing services and CNO at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in Bennington. She helped develop SVMC s clinical advancement programs for nursing and imaging services, led the implementation of a shared governance model of professional practice across all clinical disciplines, and initiated a staff-supported salary model for women s and children s services all of which were key factors in the hospital s initial designation. She has led SVMC s Magnet Recognition Program application processes since Laura Cook Harrington, RN, MHA, CPHQ, CHCQM, is the director of live events and continuing education and a senior consultant at The Greeley Company, a division of HCPro, Inc., in Marblehead, MA. She is an experienced healthcare manager with an extensive background in the areas of performance improvement, peer review, risk, case management, and credentialing. She is a registered nurse, a certified professional in healthcare quality, and a fellow of the American Board of Quality Assurance & Utilization Review Physicians. She graduated from Texas Woman s University with a bachelor s degree in nursing and a master s degree in healthcare administration. Faculty subject to change.
