6 Rapid City Conference Activities Sunday July 22, 2018 Conference Reception 4:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m. After arriving, please stop by the Western CPE registration desk from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to pick up your conference materials. We ll be available to answer any questions you might have about the courses and activities that are scheduled during the week. Monday July 23, 2018 Mount Rushmore Excursion 2:00 p.m. 5:30 p.m. $60.00 Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a massive sculpture carved into Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills region of South Dakota. Completed in 1941 under the direction of Gutzon Borglum and his son Lincoln, the sculpture's roughly 60-ft.-high granite faces depict U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The site also features a museum with interactive exhibits. You won t want to miss this guided tour of Mt. Rushmore National Monument, the Shrine of Democracy. While enjoying your box lunch on the bus, your tour guide will tell you all about the beautiful scenery that surrounds you. We ll have time to visit the Sculptor s Studio, exhibits, and the gift shop. Price includes transportation, guided tour, tax, and gratuity. Tuesday July 24, 2018 Crazy Horse Monument Excursion 2:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. $79.00 Crazy Horse Memorial is the mountain-carving-in-progress that is dedicated to all Native Americans. At the memorial site, you ll have the chance to watch a film about Crazy Horse Memorial, visit museums and art galleries, and take a ride to the base of Crazy Horse Mountain. Crazy Horse Memorial is located in the heart of the beautiful Black Hills. The mountain, made of pegmatite granite, rises an astounding 6,532 feet above sea level and is the 27th highest mountain in South Dakota. It was chosen by Sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski & Lakota Chief Henry Standing Bear for the Crazy Horse Memorial. The mission of Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation is to protect and preserve the culture, tradition and living heritage of the North American Indians. Price includes transportation, guided tour, tax, and gratuity.

7 Wednesday July 25, 2018 Bear Country USA & Black Hills Gold Factory 2:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. $69.00 This guided tour will take you to the Black Hills Gold Factory, where you ll see skilled artisans crafting the beautiful tricolored jewelry that is unique to the area. You ll also have the chance to visit the showroom and take advantage of some of the area s lowest prices. Next, sit back and enjoy Bear Country USA, a drive-through wildlife park where, from the comfort of the motor coach, you ll see elk, timber wolves, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and black bears. 9 RELEASE FROM RESPONSIBILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND POWER TO AUTHORIZE MEDICAL TREATMENT Complete only if you are participating in optional out-of-class activities. Release must be signed by each participating adult. It being my intention to participate in the optional activities offered while attending the Western CPE conference, and it being known and understood by me that said participation in these optional activities shall necessarily involve exposure to risks to my person and my property, I do hereby assume the full responsibility for any such risks and do hereby waive any right to any claim against Western CPE or any of its employees or agents for any injury, loss, damage, accident, delay, or expense resulting from any acts or omission of any carrier, government, private legal entity, or third person.
