1 22nd ANNUAL EMERGENCY MEDICINE FOR RURAL HOSPITALS FRIDAY EVENING TO SUNDAY January 20-22, 2006 A PROGRAM FOR PHYSICIANS AND NURSES COURSE OVERVIEW This program is designed for physicians and nurses in rural hospitals. Through a combination of plenary lectures, breakout sessions and small group workshops, participants will review current issues in management of patients presenting to rural emergency departments. COURSE OBJECTIVES To provide nurses and doctors with an update on the management of urgent conditions presenting special challenges in the rural emergency department. Assessment, investigation and treatment appropriate to the rural setting will be covered. To assist physicians and nurses in identifying patients who can be optimally managed in a rural setting and those who require referral to a larger centre. Transport issues for patients needing referral will be addressed. To provide a forum for exchange of information among health professionals in rural communities. Reserve at the Banff Park Lodge ( ) by December 2, 2005 to receive the conference rate of $97 per night (plus applicable taxes). There is a block of rooms available until this date. STUDY CREDITS This program meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for up to 14 MAINPRO-M1 credits.
