Death by Consensus: Institutions and Innovation Jim Dewald, PhD, Dean, Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary Entrepreneurial or innovative organizations are very distinct. They are different, and typically one does not see the highest levels of innovation within large public institutions, such as hospitals and health care regions. Many large institutions are governed by consensus, which, if not done properly, can result in stalling, maybe even killing the innovative spirit of the organization. However, there are large organizations that succeed by being entrepreneurial/innovative, and this session will explore some of the key characteristics of successful entrepreneurial/innovative firms, and how those principles could be adopted in a healthcare setting. 3:15 P.M. Closing Remarks
