Glasgow Centre for Population Health (GCPH) is recruiting researchers to develop and implement the evaluation programme for the project. The post involves working with GCPH colleagues and the Healthier, Wealthier Children project team to lead on the design and delivery of the evaluation programme including planning fieldwork as well as collecting, manipulating, analysing and presenting qualitative and quantitative data. The post requires specialist research expertise and technical skill and the ability to work with a large and diverse project team including frontline health staff. You will contribute to the development of qualitative data collection instruments and carry out data collection, analysis, report writing and presentation of findings to local and national conferences. You will also act autonomously within professional guidelines and ethics, with supervision from a Public Health Research Specialist in Glasgow Centre for Population Health. You should have a good Honours Degree (1st or 2:1) in a relevant discipline (such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, social policy or cognate), or equivalent qualification/knowledge and demonstrable skills gained through experience. Knowledge and experience of research using qualitative methodologies in data collection combined with experience of using computers for data analysis and for health-related datasets is essential. The service covers Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Argyll & Clyde and West Forth Valley. Women are invited every 3 years for a mammogram. Radiographers employed by the service work in the static unit as well as on the mobile units. You should be a qualified female radiographer and registered with HPC. You will be delegated appropriate tasks by professionally qualified Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team members, working under their supervision and guidance in undertaking both clinical and non-clinical tasks. You will work independently with patients, predominantly with individuals in ward settings and local community within the agreed parameters of a defined intervention plan. Training, supervision and support will be provided to enable you to work within your agreed competence levels. You must be flexible as in addition to your clinical duties, you will deliver a wider support function for the service which can include patient administration duties, patient appointments, electronic data recording and clinical effectiveness. 9 MEDICAL, DENTAL AND PSYCHOLOGY Job Ref & Job Title 21534D/VB Consultant Surgeon CONS 40 MCN South Glasgow GGHB Applications are invited for a Consultant post in General Surgery with a specialist interest in Breast Surgery, based in South Glasgow. The team provides a range of general, colorectal, upper GI and breast surgery. There is a general surgical on-call commitment of 1:6. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will participate in both the symptomatic and the screening service in close association with the breast multidisciplinary team including specialist breast care nurses. The team currently provides a full range of breast cancer surgery and reconstructive surgery in close association with the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit and treats 350 new cancers per year. The new Consultant will work in a flexible manner with the existing Consultants to provide both screening and symptomatic sessions to ensure service provision. The Breast team has close links with the Beatson Oncology Centre which is at the Gartnavel site and provides oncology services for the West of Scotland. It is anticipated that interest in the post will be from suitably trained general surgeons who have a specialist interest in Breast surgery. Some experience in the management of screen detected breast cancers is desirable. The successful candidate is also required to provide an emergency surgical receiving service at consultant level.
