1 November 15, 2015 The Business Partner Committee would like to extend our thanks to all of our 2015 Business Partners. We appreciate your continued support of our Chapter. We also look forward to welcoming new Business Partners into our program in 2016! Our Business Partners play a vital role in our Chapter s success. The funds from the Business Partner program help pay for educational opportunities for our Chapter members such as scholarships to various ALA conferences, dynamic speakers at Chapter luncheons and our annual Chapter retreat. There are many reasons why you should consider becoming a Business Partner of the ALA Houston Chapter. You will be able to network with professionals of law firms and corporate offices of all different types and sizes. Also, through our Chapter s listserv, our members frequently recommend our Business Partners to other Chapter members when they are in need of a good or service. We will also provide a logo to all Business Partners that denotes the current level of participation. You will be able to use this logo on direct mail pieces, advertising or on your company website. Here are some important details to remember: The will begin January 1, 2016 through December 31, All registrations must be received by Friday, February 12, Program registrations received after this date will be returned unprocessed unless you are registering at the Copper level. Á la carte registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the program year, based on availability. Program registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Full payment must accompany the registration in order to be processed. We accept checks as well as Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. For this reason, ALA encourages all business partners to respect and support the principles and rules of conduct, as outlined in the ALA Code of Professional Responsibility (see that its members are expected to incorporate into their everyday performance. Furthermore, the Business Partner Committee and Houston Board strongly encourage ALA business partners to become familiar with, and meet or exceed, the following guidelines. These guidelines are intended to advance the Association s Mission (see and to strengthen the relationships between business partners and ALA members. Business partners and their employees, agents and subcontractors (collectively referred to as Representatives ) should be aware of the Association s commitment to business integrity. Take the time to educate your representatives to ensure they are familiar with the Code of Professional Responsibility and these Performance Guidelines. Our business partners are encouraged to exercise sound judgment, discretion and moderation when offering gifts or interacting in social settings with ALA members. The Houston Chapter of ALA Business Partner Program includes professional as well as social events. Those events that are social in nature may include alcoholic beverages. Each Member and Business Partner assumes responsibility for maintaining their professionalism and exercising good judgment. Excessive alcohol consumption is prohibited. Both Members and Business Partners have a responsibility and an obligation to monitor and limit their own alcohol consumption. 21
