5 S.G.A. Financial Report 5 The Student Government Association has recently concluded its allocation and re-allocation process. We started with an estimated budget of $217, Of the $248, requested from student organizations this fall, we were able to fund $187, Of the $20, requested from student organizations for re-allocations, we were able to fund $15, For a total of $268, in requests, and $202, in funding. Club sports including Hockey, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball, and Men s and Women s Rugby are now allocated funds through SGA. The allocations policy with regards to club sports originated allowed for 5% of the SGA budget to be allocated to Club Sports. However, during this semester of allocations SGA received a total of $16, in requests from club sports. Generally, the 5% budget allowance for club sports is around $11,000. After receiving a surplus in necessary allocations requests, SGA was forced to change the policy to allow 10% of our budget to be devoted to club sports. The allocations requests from the club sports were mandatory items the teams need including: transportation, insurance, trainers, referee fees, equipment, and uniforms. Increasing the budget was a tough decision for SGA to make, however, in order for the club sports to actively participate the funds needed to be granted. As part of the Student Government Association s budget, we are able to fund events and resources for the entire student body. These resources include the Public Safety van that provides transportation throughout the day to on-campus locations as well as transportation to the Berkshire Mall, Target, Wal-Mart, and our newly added van trip to the IMAX Theatre. The Student Government Association has also partnered with Public Safety to provide transportation once a month to locations including the King of Prussia Mall, the Philadelphia Premium Outlets, the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Goggle Works during their second Sunday open house, and a hiking

6 S.G.A. Financial Report 6 trip to Hawk Mountain. We also fund the daily newspapers including The Reading Eagle, USA Today, and The New-York Times available throughout the week. We fund newly released movies available for streaming online while connected to the Albright network at Monthly movie nights will be held throughout the semester in the Campus Center with free popcorn. The Student Government Association purchased paint markers and poster paper as another advertising opportunity for student groups. SGA purchased 48 tickets for the Philadelphia Union (Soccer) in August. We have set aside $45,000 for the usage of planning the traditional SGA concert. SGA also designed magnets with useful information and contact information that were distributed to all residence halls and affinity houses. The SGA is excited to see our student organizations make use of their allocated funds, and remain confident that these events will provide numerous benefits to the campus as a whole.
