Requests must be made in writing on company letterhead and are honored only from sports editors of daily newspapers and sports directors of radio and television stations. Lafayette College follows the guidelines set forth by the NCAA and the Patriot League in governing the issuance of credentials. Season credentials will be granted only to daily newspapers and television/ radio stations that cover Lafayette football on a regular basis. Otherwise, television/radio stations and weekly newspapers will be granted credentials on a single-game, space-available basis. Requests for season credentials should arrive by September 1, Requests for single-game credentials should arrive no later than one week in advance of the game. 5 Media Information MEDIAINFORMATION WEEKLY MEDIA LUNCHEONS Each Tuesday during the season, Coach Tavani and at least two members of the squad will address the media and entertain questions. Contact the Office of Athletic Communications for further details and information. MEDIA PARKING At the intersection of High and Hamilton streets, continue straight on High Street approximately 25 yards and turn right on the east side of Markle Hall which leads to the visitors parking deck. The Fisher Field press box is located just below the parking deck. Parking passes will be mailed if the Office of Athletic Communications is notified in advance. MEDIA WILL CALL Located at Gate No. 2, between the parking deck and Alumni Gymnasium. MEDIA SERVICES Working media at Fisher Field will receive the following: Real Time statistics displayed throughout the game Complete final statistics Game programs, pregame notes, and flipcards Complete play-by-play Complete halftime statistics Coach and player quotes TELEPHONES A limited number of telephones are available in the Fisher Field press box. Newspapers and radio stations desiring their own private lines to be installed in the press box should contact the Office of Athletic Communications for further assistance. INTERVIEW POLICIES All interviews with Lafayette College football players and coaches must be arranged through the Office of Athletic Communications. Players will not be available on game day until after the game. POSTGAME MEDIA & INTERVIEW ROOM The postgame media and interview room is located in Mack Lounge on the main level of Allan P. Kirby Sports Center. Working facilities, with necessary electrical outlets and telephones lines, are available. POSTGAME INTERVIEWS Following each game, there will be a 10-minute cooling-off period. Approximately 10 minutes after the game ends, the visiting team s press conference will be conducted, followed by Coach Tavani and selected Lafayette players. Following the coaches interview sessions, additional players will be available to members of the media. 7 The 2000 Lafayette College football season will see a minimum of five contests, including the Lafayette - Lehigh game, hit the television air waves via the Lafayette Sports Network. The Lafayette Sports Network, the most expansive television package in the Patriot League three years running, can be seen by more than four million viewers in the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, the Pocono region, central New Jersey, New York City, and Boston. Locally, the telecasts will be aired on RCN TV-4 and WBPH-TV 60 at 7:00 p.m. game day, and will cover the entire Lehigh Valley, as well as Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Mercer, and Warren counties in New Jersey. Games can be seen on RCN Cable channels 4 and 60, Service Electric Cable channel 51, Suburban Cable channel 17, Blue Ridge Cable channel 5, and broadcast channel 60. Renowned local sports broadcaster Gary Laubach will handle all of the Leopards playby-play duties for the fourth straight season. Leopards on Television The Lafayette Sports Network features RCN Sports Director Gary Laubach and John Leone, Lafayette s Acting Director of Alumni Affairs. Leopards on Radio John Leone, Lafayette s Acting Director of Alumni Affairs, will provide color analysis for the third straight season. Rejoining the announcing crew for his fourth season is RCN s Scott Barr, who will handle analysis on the Leopards from the sidelines. One of the longest running radio broadcast relationships in college football, WEST-AM 1400 enters its 65th year as the WEST-AM Sports Director Dick Hammer (right) enters his 34th season as the radio voice of Lafayette Football. Hammer s wife, Millie (left), assists as a statistician for most road contests. radio home of Lafayette Athletics. For more than half of those seasons, Sports Director Dick Hammer, one of the most highly-respected radio broadcasters in the Northeast, has been the radio voice of Lafayette Athletics. He enters his 34th season of expertly handling play-by-play duties for Leopard Football. Providing color analysis with Hammer on most Lafayette home contests will once again be former WEST-AM 1400 News Director Mike Moore. Joining Hammer on several road contests for the fourth season is Lafayette Director of Athletic Communications and Promotions Scott Morse. WEST-AM 1400 continually enjoys one of the highest AM ratings in the Lehigh Valley. 7

9 2000 NCAA Football Championship MEDIAINFORMATION The National Collegiate Division I-AA Football Championship is under the control, direction and supervision of the eight-member NCAA Division I-AA Football Committee appointed by the NCAA Management Council. Committee members are John Johnson, director of athletics, Weber State University; Bob Marcum, director of athletics, University of Massachusetts, Amherst; Dan Beebe, commissioner, Ohio Valley Conference; Bill Rowe, director of athletics, Southwest Missouri State University; Dennis Thomas, director of athletics, Hampton University; Greg Burke, director of athletics, Northwestern State University; Joe Sterrett, director of athletics, Lehigh University; and Walt Nadzak, director of athletics, The Citadel. Dennis Poppe, NCAA director of championships, works closely with the committee in the administration of the championship and related matters. Selection of teams and conduct of championship competition are the responsibility of the committee. The Division I-AA Football Championship provides for a field of 16 teams with eight first-round games played on the campuses of competing institutions. The champions of eight conferences Atlantic 10, Big Sky, Gateway Collegiate Athletic, Mid-Eastern Athletic, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland are granted automatic qualification. The committee selects the remaining teams at large with assistance from four regional advisory committees. Teams are selected for the championship on the basis of the following criteria (not in preferential order): (1) eligibility and availability of student-athletes for NCAA postseason competition, (2) won-loss record and (3) strength of schedule. The committee is responsible for all pairings and seedings. The top half of the bracket has the No. 1- and No. 4-seeded teams and the lower half has the No. 2- and No. 3- seeded teams. Teams are placed in the appropriate region according to the seeding of the top four teams. The 2000 NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship game will be played Saturday, December 18, at Finley Stadium/Davenport Field, Chattanooga, Tenn.
