If you have not received your WALL membership cards, please contact Hannah Doan at hdoan@wesleyancollege.edu or call her at The WALL Curriculum Committee is presently working on the Spring Semester Classes for There will be familiar classes as well as some surprises. Look for further details about the classes in upcoming newsletters. Don't forget that we value your suggestions and ideas. Please contact Vince Coughlin who is the current Curriculum Chair at vince.coughlin@cox.net with your class suggestions for future classes. Look for copies of our previous newsletters on the WALL website. We are in the process of adding more information to the site. History and Distinctive Music of the Great Highland Bagpipes Monday, Oct. 13 from 1:30 3:00 PM and Oct. 20 from 2:15 2:45 PM in Taylor Amphitheatre. Opera Thursday, Oct. 23, 30 & Nov. 6 from 10:00 Noon in Taylor Hall, room 123. Also, on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 11:30 AM the Central Georgia Opera Guild will host a luncheon beginning at 11:30 AM in the Lobby of the Douglass Theatre to honor members of the opera class. A pre-opera chat will be presented at 12:30 PM presented by several opera class participants. The opera, Carmen, will begin at 1:00 PM. Admission to the Opera is $20.00 for seniors. NOTE: The course, Samplers Then and Now, has been canceled due to the death of the instructor.

4 Page 4 International Confucius Institute Day - FREE EVENT Saturday, September 27, 11 AM - 7 PM Wesleyan Quad (Oval Hall, Candler Alumnae center if it rains) Confucius Institutes worldwide will celebrate Chinese culture and language in an all-day fair-like event with dancing, musical and martial arts performances, dumpling making, face painting, a photo booth, and lectures, culminating at dark with a grand fireworks display on the Wesleyan golf course! Guests can buy tickets for lunch and dinner: $5 adults, $3 children. This all day event is free and open to the public. China s National Day Observance Wednesday, October 1, 6 PM Taylor Amphitheater Join the Confucius Institute at Wesleyan College in observing China's National Day, the anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. We will hear a guest lecture on the history of modern China and view footage of that day's parades from China. Free. Volunteers meet in Anderson Dining Hall for a breakfast meeting and then depart in small groups to various project sites located throughout Macon. Community volunteers are welcome. Free. (478) Belk Lecture Series: Dr. Amos Yong Thursday, October 30,11:15 AM Taylor Amphitheatre The Buddhist-Christian Encounter in the Third Millennium: W(h)ither the Middle Way? Dr. Yong is director of the Center for Missiological Research (CMR) and professor of theology at Mission School of Intercultural Studies, Fuller Theological Seminary. His scholarship has been foundational in Pentecostal theology, interacting with both traditional theological traditions and contemporary contextual theologies dealing with such themes as the theologies of Christian-Buddhist dialogue, of disability, of hospitality, and of the mission of God. Chinese Film Festival Thursday, October 30 and Monday, November 17, 6 PM Taylor Amphitheater The Confucius Institute at Wesleyan College will screen two culturally significant Chinese films, each followed by a discussion.
