3 Description This course is an intense review designed to assist the physician in updating his/ her knowledge by presenting practical information that can be used in the office. It is oriented toward physicians who maintain an active outpatient and inpatient practice. Concise presentations will be accompanied by a CD syllabus. Workshops and seminars are available for more in-depth learning in selected areas. Learning Objectives As a result of participating in this continuing education activity attendees will be able to: Apply information from presented topics to their practice. Properly diagnose and manage patients who have problems in these areas. Utilize successful test-taking techniques. Registration Information To enroll, please register online at cme.uthscsa.edu/familypractice2014.asp or send the attached registration form with credit card information or a check payable to UTHSCSA CME for the course fee of $660 (plus applicable workshop fee) postmarked by February 6, 2014, $710 (plus applicable workshop fee) after February 6, This fee includes a pre- and post-tests, continental breakfasts and all refreshment breaks. Each evening workshops will be held at an additional fee of $80. Please indicate (online or on the registration form) the workshops of your choice and the total fee amount enclosed. The syllabus will be available in electronic format online and on CD at no cost. A printed syllabus is available for $35. Please indicate (online or on the registration form) if you would like to purchase this in addition to the electronic syllabus. If you must cancel, your tuition will be refunded less a $50 administrative fee, provided notice is received by February 6, The UTHSCSA Office of Continuing Medical Education reserves the right to limit enrollment or cancel any course no less than a week prior to the start date of the course. The 16-story hotel lobby is adorned with a state-of-the-art atrium, that also includes convenient access to dining and entertainment venues surrounding the Riverwalk. Additional four-diamond hotel amenities include: Contemporary guestrooms, Chaps Restaurant, rooftop pool, Stay-Fit gym and relaxing Spa. A block of rooms has been reserved and will be held until February 6, 2014 at the special rate of $199 for single (plus taxes) for double accommodations, $199 (plus taxes) for triple accommodations, $224 (plus taxes) or for quadruple occupancy, $249 (plus taxes). If rooms remain in the block after February 6, 2014, they will be returned to the hotel s general inventory and the group rate may not be available. When making your reservation, please specify that you will be attending the Family Practice Review Course to qualify for the group rates. Guests will be billed for the first night s room and tax should they fail to cancel their reservation 48 hours prior to arrival. Currently reservations may be made by calling or using the following asp Continuing Medical Education Credit Accreditation Statement The UT Health Science Center San Antonio School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation Statement The UT Health Science Center San Antonio School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 37.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for the four day review course and 3 credits for each evening workshop. Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Nurses and other healthcare professionals will receive a Certificate of Attendance. For information on applicability and acceptance, please consult your professional licensing board. AAFP Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. It will begin with a lecture/discussion using photographs and videos to demonstrate a step-by-step approach for treatment of common lesions that responds well to these procedures. This workshop will provide family physicians with knowledge and skills to effectively use electrosurgery and cryosurgery to treat skin lesions in their practice. Tysinger, PhD & Stella Koretsky, MD Limited to 30 Attendees This interactive workshop is designed to help participants enhance their scores on the ABFP in training examination or certification examination. Presenters will review the distribution of topics covered on the exams and describe effective study and test-taking strategies. Participants will complete a sample examination and discuss selected examination items to learn how clinical reasoning skills can enhance examination performance.
