Watch for info on Sources for Shoes and Boots for your Uniforms BOOTS: This week I found a what looks like a good source for your combat boots for your BDUs. Wal-Mart has a boot that looks exactly like our AF jungle boot. It also has steel toes, and a cushioned insoles. It comes in sizes 7 and up. I don t know if this was a sale price or regular price but they were going for $ That s right & I saw them in the Wal-Mart store at College and the 76 in Oceanside and I saw them again at the Wal- Mart on Hwy 79 in Temecula. At that price you don t have to worry about how fast the young cadet s feet are growing. The price for these boots from Vanguard is $93.50 and $ Check them out. SHOES: If you re looking for high gloss, corfam shoes, these sound pretty good and they re only $ Product/lawpro-hi-glossdress-oxford/ PPS87+100/ Thanks Col. Billing for sharing these tips!

You'll be glad you did! 2010 Encampment (FTO) California Wing Headquarters PO Box 7688 Van Nuys, CA Coming Soon: Cyber Patriot 1We are looking into forming a Squadron 47 Cyber Patriot Team. Here is what they say about the Cyber Patriot Program: Cyber security is perhaps the most critical national security imperative for the U.S. today. No nation relies more on the internet for its own defense, economy and daily life we are the most vulnerable nation on Earth to disruption or exploitation of those connections. The key to our protection lies in people. We need more Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-educated U.S. citizens of all disciplines, but arguably require talent in cyber security most of all. This need was the reason the Air Force Association (AFA) decided to create The National High School Cyber Defense Competition. First step was to prove the concept, and the CyberPatriot I competition held in conjunction with AFA s February 2009 Air Warfare Symposium in Orlando, Florida, did that in spades. The next step was to prove the competition could go nationwide, and our Pilot National Deployment during the school year cleared that hurdle. We successfully conducted three online qualification rounds for nearly 200 AFJROTC/ CAP units in 44 states, with eight finalist teams competing in the February 2010 Championship in Orlando. This coming school year we are going to Full National Deployment, with up to 500 slots reserved in the All-Service Division for JROTC units of all the services and the Civil Air Patrol. In a separate, parallel competition we will have an Open Division available to up to 500 non-jrotc high schools nationwide. Both competitions will culminate at an in-person Championship at the Gaylord National Resort to be held on 1-2 April 2011 in conjunction with the new CyberFutures Symposium and Technology Exposition.

6 Page 6 For Your Information: This was a study done by National Headquarters to see what the cadet numbers are for all of CAP. I thought you might be interested in seeing what the nationwide statistics are and how we match up.

10 Page 10 Civil Air Patrol Squadron 47 The Fell Swoop Creating Extraordinary Fundraising Results with Everyday Purchases! This is so simple! escrip works with merchants to contribute to Squadron 47 each time you shop at no cost to you! Here's How it Works: Register any one or all of your existing grocery loyalty, debit and credit cards for use in the program. escrip s privacy policy protects your cards and they don t sell information. Based on your purchases using the cards you have registered, participating merchants will contribute a percentage of sales to Squadron 47. Your purchases are tracked and available to you online, allowing you to see just how much you are earning on your child's behalf. Squadron 47 will receive an electronic deposit into its bank account every month which includes contributions from all of our participating supporters. Here s What You Do: Go to click on sign-up, and enter your info. That s it! No selling candy, no buying candy, no harassing co-workers and family! :) It s all automatic now! How We Will Spend the Money: All squadron and cadet activities are paid for with donations from members, or charges to the cadets. The more money donated through escrip, the more activities we can have and not have to charge for them. A win-win situation! Although we are an auxiliary of the United States Air Force, Civil Air Patrol squadrons do not receive money from them for operating costs or activities, other than for reimbursement for aircraft expenses. Please take a few minutes to visit and sign up now! Your pocketbook and your squadron will thank you later!
