4 2button ush-mailn yhs-att_00 yahoo_pc UNF Student Chapter Events I-95 Overland Bridge Project On March 13, 2014 the UNF Student Chapter hosted a field trip to visit the I-95 Overland Bridge Project with the Design Project Manager Robert Jackson, P.E., with Reynolds, Smith and Hills. Jackson spoke on the overall design approach for the project and the major cost saving and traffic efficiency modifications. RS&H designers made to the original plan. A follow-on site visit took place on Thursday, April 10. The site visit was hosted by Project Administrator Tim Heath and Bill Kays from FDOT CI, contractor Kissinger Campo and Heath Bunn, Construction Superintendant from Archer Western. The students were able to see the various aspects of the current construction including retaining wall construction, driving of piles and installation of bridge piers, installation of beams and bridge decking, and earth work for access ramps. Heath Bunn (center) discusses the installation and manufacture of beams with students while Bill Kays (left, orange vest) and Tim Heath (right, orange vest) look on. Employment Panel - On April 17, 2014 an employment panel was held for the UNF Student Chapter at the University of North Florida Student Union. Faculty advisor Chris Brown, P.E., PhD served as the panel facilitator asking question related to the engineering careers of the panel participants, career options in the engineering and construction fields, continuing education options and tips for resumes and interviews. Approximately 20 students attended the employment panel. Panel participants included: Alan Watt - RS&H, Inc. CDR Troy Hamilton - NAVFAC Southeast Wendi Leanhardt - Jones Edmunds, Inc. Tim Harley - St John's County Water Utilities Student Chapter President Ebenson Verdule discusses construction of a new section of I-95 with Heath Bunn.
