There is still a great deal of transition work required to make the changes complete, however the initial reporting structure has become official. As a reminder, above is the updated Medic organizational chart highlighting the affected departments with regard to the new leadership Please take the time to review these changes and direct any questions you may have to your immediate supervisor or manager. 4 Rescue Worker s Pension Fund Job Well Done! submit their payments for the prior year by March 31 st of the current year (i.e. payments must be paid by March 31, 2014 for the 2013 calendar year). Congratulations to Ashley and Brian Smith! Below is an excerpt from a recent patient web submission celebrating their outstanding work: The NCREMS (North Carolina Association of Rescue & EMS) recently sent out a notice to members on our roster in regards to the Rescue Worker s Pension Fund. The notice was sent out to relay to current contributing members of the Pension Fund that the law changed to allow employees to This Pension Fund is not the same as your NC State Retirement. This is a voluntary fund for Rescue Worker s to take part in on their own behalf there is no payroll deduction for this benefit. If you have any questions regarding the NCREMS Rescue Worker s Pension Fund, please feel free to contact the NCAREMS directly at / or the Human Resources Department at humanresources@medic911.com. Thank you. Brian and Ashley provided extraordinary care for me on March 28. I had a severe medical issue while at the Davidson Our Town Cinema. Brian and Ashley responded, provided care for me, and provided assurance and confidence for my wife who was with me. Thanks guys!! - Bruce T. Again, congratulation Ashley and Brian for a job well done! Be on the lookout for more employee kudos in the Medic Dispatch as we celebrate the fantastic work you do each and every day! Personal Device Access Holiday Pay Although Medic is aggressively researching secure options to increase internet access, the Agency does not currently have a BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device-Policy) in place. Despite this, audits have revealed some employees personal devices are accessing the Medic network. Please be aware, unless a device is Medic issued, this is in violation of company policy. This particular issue has been addressed and will no longer be viable as of Tuesday, April 8 th. If you have questions, or need clarity, please contact IT Manager Teresa Womble at teresaw@medic911.com. Medic s HR Department would like to remind all supervisors and managers that holiday pay for Good Friday (April 18 th ) has already been entered in for all hourly employees and, therefore, will not be visible on employee time cards prior to the ending pay period. Supervisors are advised not to add holiday pay for their hourly employees as this will result in double pay. Please contact Human Resources Manager Sharon Belle at sharonb1@medic911.com if you have any questions. 4
5 How is Your Road Safety Score Calculated? Medic is very focused on the safety of all its employees and the community in which we serve, especially when it comes to vehicle operation. As part of our focus, the Risk & Safety Department makes sure that every Medic vehicle is equipped with a Road Safety device. This device monitors and tracks employee driving habits and releases a list of individual driving scores every month. Medic drivers are graded on a scale of 1 to 10; with 1 being the worst driving score and 10 being the best. Below is an in depth look on how your Road Safety scores are calculated each month: Step 1: All of your Total Counts Are Added Together Example 2 (Total Overforce Counts) + 3 (Total Overspeed Counts) = 5 (Total Counts) Step 2: Your Adjusted High Overforce Counts Are Calculated Example 1 (High Overforce Count) x 25 (High Force Multiple) = 25 (Adjusted High Overforce Counts) Step 3: Your Adjusted High Overspeed Counts Are Calculated Example 1 (High Overspeed Count) x 25 (High Speed Multiple) = 25 (Adjusted High Overspeed Counts) Step 4: Your Adjusted Seatbelt Violations Are Calculated Example 2 (Seatbelt Violation Counts) x 1 (Seatbelt Multiple) = 2 (Adjusted Seatbelt Violation Counts) Step 5: Your Adjusted Unsafe Reverse Counts Are Calculated Example 4 (Unsafe Reverse Counts) x 1 (Reverse Multiple) = 2 (Adjusted Unsafe Reverse Counts) Step 6: Add Up All Of The Counts Example 25 (Adjusted High Overforce Counts) + 25 (Adjusted High Overspeed Counts) + 2 (Adjusted Seatbelt Violation Counts) + 4 (Adjusted Unsafe Reverse Counts) + 5 (Total Counts) = 61 (Total Adjusted Counts) Step 7: Compute The ABC Miles 1, (Distance in Miles) / 61 (Total Adjusted Counts) = ABC Miles Safeforce Driving System Level Requirements ABC Miles Level à à à à à à à à à 2 < à 1 Your ABC Miles are then correlated to a level number using the chart below: ABC Miles Chart Since the driver s ABC Miles are , their level is a 6 because the ABC miles are greater than 16 but less than 32. For questions on how your Road Safety scores are calculated, please be sure to contact Medic s Risk and Safety Specialist, Amy Johnson at , or at amyj@medic911.com. Thank you. 5
