2 ACLS Course fees are due prior to the first day of the course. HOW TO GET READY The ACLS Provider and Recertification Courses are designed to teach the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting. Because the ACLS course covers extensive material in a short time you will need to be prepared for the course. PRECOURSE REQUIREMENTS You should prepare for the course by doing the following: 1) Complete the pre-test found at and enter the code provided in the manual. Bring a copy of the pre-test to class required. 2) Review, understand, and complete the ECG and Pharmacology precourse assessment tests on You will not be taught how to read or interpret ECG s in the course, nor the details about ACLS pharmacology. 3) READ the ACLS Provider Manual, pay particular attention to the Part 5 of the ACLS Cases in the manual. These cases are designed to review the knowledge and skills that you need to successfully participate in the course events and pass the Megacode Testing station. 4) Review and understand the information for BLS for healthcare provider. You will be tested on adult 1-rescuer and AED skills. The systematic approach to pediatric assessment is designed to review the knowledge and skills that you need to successfully participate in the course events and pass the Megacode. Emphasis will be placed on the Evaluate, Identify, and Intervene approach to assessment and management of a seriously ill or injured child, the Primary Assessment (ABCDE) and Secondary Assessment Focused History (SAMPLE). 4) Review and understand the information for BLS for healthcare provider. You will be tested on child 1-rescuer and AED skills. 4 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Participants should be physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, or other allied health personnel whose occupation demands proficiency in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Submit a copy of a current BLS Healthcare Provider card, front and back. Recertifying candidates must also submit a copy of current ACLS and/or PALS card. Pre-course materials must be picked up in the Education Department, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7a.m. and 4 p.m. Pre-course materials will not be mailed out. CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations must be received within 7 days prior to the course to receive a full refund. After that time, full course fees may not be refunded.
