38 David Wehn November 7, 2016 Planning Board of Environmental Sciences Erie Community College 6205 Main Street Williamsville, NY Dear Mr. Danna: This letter is my request to remain on the Planning Board for Environmental Sciences at Erie Community College. Much of my 25 year consulting career has been in the environmental/earth engineering fields, and I believe I would have a lotto offer ECC in these areas. I have passed all the traditional undergraduate and graduate-level science classes typical of Bachelor and Master of Science degrees including biology, chemistry, calculus, physics, geography, and geology. My M.S. degree involved the geochemical determination of paleo-temperatures in the Black Hills, South Dakota, using a two-mica geothermometer. My post-m.s. work involved determining Pressure/Temperature paths in the Ruby Range in Montana by determining the chemistry of garnet zoning. Parallel to the above geochemisty work, I also studied hydrogeology, which became my career for the next 2 5 years. As a hydrogeologist with environmental consultancies, I gained broad experience in environmental investigations and remediation in a diverse field of projects, including hazardous waste disposal facilities, renewable energy, water supply projects, former manufacturing plants, manufactured coal gas sites, and underground mines. More recently, I have been directing projects in the Oil & Gas field including impoundment construction, regulatory compliance, and spill investigation and remediation. I am familiar with the process of high-volume hydraulic fracturing and have observed an on-site well frack at a site in Pennsylvania. I remain well connected to a variety of operators of the above sites as well as former colleagues and believe I could offer professional support and ideas for students entering the workforce or transferring into related majors at other colleges. Best regards, DavidWehn
