1 Hi Everyone, Thank you for reading the RHT Group December Newsletter. If there are any classes you don t see please let us know. We are also available to bring certain training to your fire department. Red Helmet Training News Red Helmet Training will also be expanding the number of Fire Officer classes over the next year to prepare for the upcoming State Fire Training deadlines. Next year we will also be starting the new Company Officer courses in Rancho Cucamonga and Escondido. In the near future we are looking to put on a week long Leadership Education And Development (LEAD) Workshop and our renowned Company Officer Assessment Center Help (C.O.A.C.H.) workshop with a mock Captains Exam will be in May. We are also bringing out some big names next year as part of our five year anniversary during our Learning from the Leaders seminar series. These fire service leaders will be presenting on the current topics needed in our industry. This series will be hosted at our training facility and will be sponsored by our friends at Fire Nuggets and corporate sponsor the Firefighters Bookstore. Stay tuned for dates to see fire service leaders such as Anthony Kastros, Dave Dodson, Rick Lasky, Dr. Richard Gasaway, John Mittendorf, Billy Goldfeder, John Salka, Al Brunacini and many more. Blue Helmet Training News Blue Helmet Training continues to grow at a steady pace with the possibility of expanding into more contract work for professional services with large Agencies in Southern California. As we move into the professional services, we will need to hire several individuals that have experience in Quality Assurance / Improvement, Data Entry, and Continuing Education. Currently our course line-up includes all the AHA classes including: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and the Heartsaver series. We also offer the NAEMT course PHTLS and we are looking to expand into TCCC and AMLS. In-fact, we are looking for instructors that may teach these courses already! If you are interested in teaching, assisting with course development, or simply would like to discuss classes, please Chad at info@bluehelmettraining.com Our EMT and EMR program is still being developed, if you have experience in either of these programs, please contact us if you are interested in becoming part of our team. Our next EMT Course will be a part time / hybrid class beginning February 11th. Register Now! To see a list of our class dates and course costs, please visit our website at:
2 Yellow Helmet Training News Yellow Helmet Training continues to search for volunteers for the Fire Intern Program. The intern program is a work experience program in which you work at the Red Helmet Training Classroom Facility in exchange for class tuition. This can even be applied to the upcoming EMT course. One of the biggest advantages for this program is the increased exposure to Training Officers, Captains and Chief Officers that are involved in the testing process throughout the area. If you or someone you know might be interested in the intern program please send a resume and interest letter to jquinalty@redhelmettraining.com. White Helmet Training News White Helmet Training has scheduled all of the Level 2 classes over the several months along with an ICS-400 class. These classes will not get canceled due to low enrollment. We are also working on scheduling the new Chief Officer series and dates for S-390 Advanced Wildland Fire Behavior. Black Helmet Training News Black Helmet Training, our wildland training division continues to add more S-classes and wildland specific Strategy & Tactics classes. We are also looking at bringing out some guest speakers to discuss wildland strategy, tactics, safety, culture and entrapments. Green Helmet Training News Green Helmet Training is coming soon. This new division is designed to provide training in Incident Command Systems, including Hospital ICS, disaster planning and training to include simulation and drills for your department, crews, EOC or CERT members. We will also be hosting FEMA courses and seminars on a regular basis. Orange Helmet Training News We are proud to announce the addition of Greg Coon to our staff. Greg recently retired from the San Bernardino County Fire Dept brings over 24 years of Haz Mat experience in response and regulatory compliance matters. Greg has certified over 5000 responders in various levels of Haz Mat course work. We look forward to Greg taking Orange Helmet to new levels. Our plans will be to make available more CSTI, State Fire Marshal and Cal OSHA course work along with opening up our classrooms to private industry with HAZWOPER and DOT/HM-126F training. Orange Helmet classes are all custom designed for the industry that we are instructing. We are also looking at providing Respirator FIT testing in the future. Greg and our training staff are ready to travel to your training site or business if applicable. Please watch for the new Orange Helmet Training Link within the Red Helmet training group. To book your class contact Greg Coon at
3 State Fire Training Changes Are You On Track? While we were up in Fresno last year we had an opportunity to look at the new curriculum changes that are taking place with State Fire Training. These changes will affect multiple certification tracks but for the majority of our students they will be influenced by the new Company Officer program, the Chief Officer track and the Instructor series. These new changes will take place on December 31, Students must choose to meet either the existing track prior to the dead line or the new certification requirements, as a cross over between the two will not be allowed. The reason for the new changes is to align the courses with NFPA and certify the classes with IFSAC and ProBoard. All of these tracks will have reduced requirements in the number of hours to complete, however a task book will be assigned to complete certification. To view these new certification tracks and the supporting documentation please visit: ImplementationPlansandProceduresforNewSFTCurriculum.pdf Red Helmet Training will be working towards teaching the new curriculum in all disciplines but this does take time. We are hoping to start these new classes by the beginning of If you have started the current series or need to have it completed before the end of the year then we would suggest completing any of these tracks in their current state. With the increased student count that we are expecting with this upcoming deadline we are encouraging all students to sign up for classes early and check for classes often. We will also be looking to increase the frequency of these courses over the next year. We will be running the Company Officer and Instructor series a minimum of four times in the next year and the Chief Officer series at least twice. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us or State Fire Training directly. To get on our list, please visit the web site. Red Helmet Training Playing to Learn, Learning to Play
