13 13 Coastal Storm Preparedness: Health and Medical Executive Advisory Group Priority for 2018 Increase receiving capacity in the hospital, nursing home, and adult care facility sectors. Work carried out through three workgroups. 1: Improve Health Facility Data and Compliance Pursue 100% facility compliance with accurate and timely completion of the NYSDOH Facility Profile application by 3/30/2018 through more intensive and coordinated partner outreach and streamlined facility guidance Conduct targeted and intensive outreach to sending facilities in Zones 1 and 2 to facilitate the completion of realistic send-receive relationships 2: Increase nursing home facility receiving capacity through targeted technical assistance to large out-of-zone providers. 3: Increase hospital receiving capacity to accept patients from evacuating hospitals as well as community members that cannot be accommodated at Special Medical Needs Shelters.

14 14 Response and Recovery Assistance: Puerto Rico/USVI Follow up from October/November Healthcare Deployments Longer-Term Assistance Operational debrief with involved agencies/organizations and 9 participating health system in mid- November Have shared information with entities in several other states to inform EMAC-based staffing deployments Working with AHA and HHS to determine how GNYHA s membership can support healthcare recovery and rebuilding efforts

15 15 Hospital Safety and Security Continuing to work on security best practices document with workgroup assistance Key areas include: Visitor Management, Staff Management, Vendor Management, Physical Security (including sensitive areas), Incident Reporting and Analysis, Response Tools and Practices Developing Targeted Solutions Set of products and services on contract Planning 2018 security-focused program with NYPD Planning 2018 program on prevention and mitigation of Workplace Violence At the request of members, planning leadership meeting to collaboratively explore application of Run, Hide, Fight in healthcare settings

16 16 Mass Casualty Response Planning EMS to Hospital Protocols, continuous monitoring Reviewing Year 1 metrics; will develop educational document to assist hospitals Making presentations to several specialty groups to increase knowledge of protocols Beginning work related to patient tracking/family reunification Ensure hospitals understand NYC operations and capabilities, and improve city agency-hospital interface Will be forming workgroup in early 2018; please let Jenna know if you d like to join the workgroup MCI Response Planning Toolkit for Hospitals under development Began FDNY Dispatch Center Tours this week; prioritizing trauma centers and then will offer opportunity to all NYC 911-receiving hospitals Information exchange trip to Las Vegas in collaboration with Nevada Hospital Association Upcoming Medical Preparedness and Response to Bombing Incidents Course; 2-day course will be offered 2x in March

17 17 CMS Final Rule on Emergency Preparedness Now in Effect Compliance date of November 15 th NYS surveyors are integrating emergency preparedness regulations into full surveys following a complaint, and during validation surveys Surveyors focusing on the presence of various protocols and processes as defined by CMS, but not the quality thereof Commitment to ongoing dialogue as the survey process begins Any issues thus far? 18 18 Sit Stat 2.0 GOAL: Build on current Sit Stat platform + increased collaboration with government agencies to create foundation for a shared situational awareness platform APPROACH: Provide the Intermedix for Health software bundle (EMResource & eics) to all NYS members to support daily operations and manage and document planned events, emergencies and exercises. Participating facilities will be asked to meet minimum usage requirements. Through a permission-driven structure, facilities and agencies can access and share limited information.

19 19 Sit Stat 2.0 TIMELINE: Backend work has begun. Formal announcement and project kickoff December 2018 First Sit Stat Advisory Council meeting January 2018 Signed Participation Agreements: NYC & Long Island by January 31 CNY/Hudson Valley by February 28 WNY by March 31 Full implementation & training complete NYC & Long Island March 31 (NYC will participate in SurgeEx shortly thereafter) CNY/Hudson Valley April 30 WNY May 31 * All dates tentative and relative to when signed agreements are received

20 20 IV Therapy Solution Shortage IV Therapy Market remains fragile Anticipating a long-term problem that will continue into 2018 Updates: Some relief in mini-bag market with introduction of new import stream US factories shutting down for regular maintenance in December which adds to market strains Involved in FDA advocacy efforts to allow importation of fluids from Germany
