2 A little history about the event For seventeen years the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District has sponsored a Paramedic level refresher. The goal of the program is to provide 27 hours of CME s annually of the 48 hours of CME s required for Bi-annual recertification by NREMT per DOT recommendations. Attending two consecutive years constitutes a Nevada State approved Paramedic level refresher. 3 Education Coordinated by John Mohler, RN. About John Mohler John Mohler is a seminar leader and nurse consultant with many years of nursing experience. John received his baccalaureate degree in Biology in 1981, and his baccalaureate in Nursing in 1985 from the Orvis School of Nursing. He presently works as a flight nurse for Care Flight in Reno, Nevada and is the primary instructor for John Mohler & Co., a seminar company dedicated to teaching better ways to learn and master the alphabet classes. John has been published twice, including one clinical study on pulse oximetry waveform utilization. His past experiences include over 30 years of Emergency Medical Services, as well as staff nurse positions in intensive care, emergency/trauma nursing. John currently works as a flight nurse for Care Flight in Reno. 5 Certification All three days will provide certification in their respective disciplines. This conference is designed to provide the Continuing Education necessary to recertify as a paramedic in a innovative and exciting format. This year we are offering certification in ITLS, ACLS, and PALS. The course is approved by the State of Nevada EMS and the State of Nevada Board of Nursing for 27 CME s. This course is also approved by the State of California EMS, SSV, and Eldorado Co EMS for 27 CME s. Featured Speakers Biographies Jeffrey P. Salomone, MD, FACS, NREMT-P has a long-standing involvement in prehospital care. Jeff is a native of Reno, NV and a graduate of the University Of Nevada, School Of Medicine. He began working in EMS upon graduation from high school. He is currently Associate Professor of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. Based at Grady Memorial Hospital Jeff proudly maintains his National Registry EMT-P status. Bob Page, AAS. NERMT-P, CCEMT-P, I/C is an internationally known speaker, instructor, author and paramedic. He has presented seminars across the United States, Canada and in the United Kingdom. He is recognized for his energetic, humorous and motivational style. Bob takes ordinarily dry and hard to teach topics and transforms them into a fun, learning experience. Kala Parker, MD is an Emergency Department Attending at Children s Hospital at Children s Hospital of Central California. Dr. Parker is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition Dr. Parker is an educator for nurses and physicians at Children s Hospital and is a PALS instructor.

6 Scott Lamprecht, DNP, MSN, APN, RN, is owner of Complete Medical Consultants and an Associate Professor at two universities. Scott completed his Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) 2009 with a Practice Based Dissertation titled Sudden Cardiac Arrest Screening in Adolescent Athletes. Additionally he is an active member of both the Nevada State Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee and Chairman of the American Heart Association s Southern Nevada Area Regional Faculty Workgroup. Scott is also a Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor with a 25 year background in Critical Care including ER/EMS, ICU/CCU, Trauma, and Open-Heart Surgery. He has also completed his Family Nurse Practitioner. Scott has been very active in both the Nevada Legislature and Washington DC as an advocate for the American Heart Association. Scott has testified several times on healthcarerelated legislation and has met with Nevada and US Legislators to discuss health policy and National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant funding. Laura Oslund has been a part of the Pahrump community since 1998 and has lived in the state of Nevada since She has been blessed to be a part of NyE Communities Coalition since it began in Laura served on the Managing Board as Treasurer and has worked in various staff positions. Her time with the school district and the coalition has enabled her to increase her knowledge and to use that knowledge to work within the communities in Nye, Esmeralda and Lincoln counties. Laura provides education and trainings to community partners, organizations, and businesses throughout the counties and is a community organizer for meetings and collaboration between agencies. She also has the pleasure of coordinating NyECC's general and tri-annual meetings, the Substances of Abuse Task Force and Assessment, Planning and Evaluation (fondly called the APE) Committee.
