1 CEUs Details on Missouri and Na/onal Registry CEU requirements for both EMT and Paramedic Descrip/on of the new NR Topics and Sub- Topics and how we can meet those requirements. Discussion on the NR s web app for tracking CEUs

2 Missouri vs NR for EMT Missouri license is good for 5 years and requires 100 CEUs in 5 years Missouri accepts NR cert for licensure NR cer/fica/on is good for 2 years NR cer/fica/on WAS 72 CEUs in 2 years NR cer/fica/on NOW is 40 CEUs in 2 years with the NCCP-16 model.

3 Missouri vs NR for Paramedic Missouri license is good for 5 years and requires 144 CEUs in 5 years Missouri accepts NR cert for licensure NR cer/fica/on is good for 2 years NR cer/fica/on WAS 72 CEUs in 2 years NR cer/fica/on NOW is 60 CEUs in 2 years with the NCCP-16 model.

5 Missouri Requirements Missouri does have specific requirements for Core categories These differ for Paramedic vs EMT both in hours and the /tles of the categories. Missouri allows elec/ves which opens a broad category where some Fire Training or USAR topics can fit. Missouri intends to change these categories and requirements in 2018.

19 Sub-Topic Summary Many are both-same hours for EMT and Paramedic Several are both-different hours for EMT and Paramedic A few are Paramedic Only Both-different hours topics could be taken by EMT and just count the addi/onal hours in the Individual Component.

20 Sub-Topic Specifics Airway-Respira/on-Ven/la/on and Cardiovascular sub-topics can be covered in Monthly Training and ACLS Refresher without issue. Medical sub-topics and Trauma sub-topics can be met that way as well for the most part. Opera/ons sub-topics are best addressed online for both EMT and Paramedic.

21 More on Sub-Topics In some cases, EMTs can complete the Paramedic version of an online lesson which would: meet the EMT sub-topic hours provide overflow hours for Individual Component or State / Local Component

22 Lehovers There would be an addi/onal 8 hour session for Paramedics and a different 8 hour session for EMTs needed to meet all sub-topics. Again EMTs could come to the Paramedic session. These sessions could be offered more than once annually in lieu of Refreshers.

25 Monthly EMS Training The Fire District NEEDS you to keep your Missouri License. The Fire District has objec/ves for Monthly EMS Training in addi/on to acquisi/on of CEUs. Some of the NR sub-topics simply do not fit into Monthly EMS training.

26 Paramedic versus EMT EMTs can count Paramedic hours. In many cases, Paramedics need the EMT level content plus addi/onal /me. Paramedic material must be taught by a Paramedic or other ALS Subject Maier Expert. Paramedics also need ACLS which can count for several sub-topics.

27 Summary Na/onal Component needs special aien/on in order to meet each sub-topic requirement. Na/onal Component cannot be completed totally online. Na/onal Component sub-topics are unlikely to fit into the Monthly EMS Training schedule. State / Local and Individual Components can be met with Monthly Training and online.

28 Plan for 2018 Members should affiliate with BCFPD on NR if: they are EMTs they are Paramedics NOT working for an ALS service Division will create course entries on the BCFPD NR Training Officer account that can be assigned to aiendees for CEU tracking as a service to Members.

30 2018 Plan con/nued Division will create, schedule and deliver the following 8 hour face-to-face courses: ALS CE Course BLS CE Course ACLS Refresher ALS and BLS Refreshers were delivered in January-February The above will be scheduled for later in the year.

31 2018 Plan (finale) Fire District requires MO license Fire District requires 70% aiendance at Monthly EMS Training Members who want to keep NR will need to: aiend more than 70% of Monthly EMS Training probably aiend BLS or ALS CE Course probably need to do online for Opera/ons
