2 WHAT WE DO THE VOLUNTEER AND AUXILIARY RESOURCES DEPARTMENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING, DEVELOPING, AND MANAGING ALL MSHA VOLUNTEERS AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS. OUR PROGRAMS OFFER EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE OTHERS AND GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. OUR VOLUNTEERS AND PROGRAMS ARE VITAL COMPONENTS OF MSHA S COMMITMENT TO PATIENT CENTERED CARE. VOLUNTEERS SERVE IN A VARIETY OF ROLES EVERYDAY, SUPPORTING PAID TEAM MEMBERS AND CONTRIBUTING TO MSHA S MISSION OF BRINGING LOVING CARE TO HEALTH CARE. THE AUXILIARY IS A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZED NONPROFIT GROUP FOCUSED ON FUNDRAISING TO BENEFIT THE PATIENTS AND FAMILIES SERVED BY MSHA. DURING MSHA S LAST FISCAL YEAR, VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 150,520 HOURS OF SERVICE, FOR A DOLLAR VALUE OF OVER $3.4 MILLION, AND THE AUXILIARY DONATED NEARLY $150,000 TO BENEFIT THE PATIENTS AND FAMILIES.
3 How can we help you? Volunteering with MSHA is a great way to learn more about a career that interests you, sapsfy school requirements, add to a resume, and experience the joy of helping others. There are many opportunipes for students to get an up close look at healthcare professions in a secure and controlled environment. In order for MSHA to best serve your needs as a student, please review the informapon the following slides to ensure that you follow the proper steps.
4 What process do I follow? The student Volunteer experience at Mountain States Health Alliance allows prospec8ve and current student the opportunity to develop and promote interests in a healthcare field. The students are schedule into exis8ng Volunteer programs set up in numerous areas of the healthcare system. Volunteers learn in a hands on environment according to their Volunteer service descrip8on for that area. MSHA Student Volunteer informa8on, including applica8on forms, my be obtained on the MSHA website About Us Volunteer and Auxiliary Resources I minimum commitment of 30 hours of service is required by all MSHA Volunteers! The following steps will be completed during the Volunteer onboarding process: STEP 1: Complete Online Student Volunteer ApplicaUon If you provide an address, you will receive an automated with further instrucpons on how to obtain a reference. Once your applicapon is received and processed, you will be contacted with next steps which will include: Volunteer orientapon Securing a placement in an available service area VaccinaPon documentapon for required MSHA vaccinapons Background screenings and/or other required screenings Uniform and ID badge instrucpons Training in your service area

6 ObservaPon at MSHA All observa8on requests are coordinated through our Volunteer Resources department EXCEPT those reques8ng to observe a Physician, Physician s Assistant, or Nurse Prac88oner Medical Staff Services oversees these requests. Their contact informa8on may be found on the Mountain States Health Alliance Volunteer webpage under Observa8on/Shadowing (hops:// us/volunteer- and- auxiliary- resources) All other students are required to become a hospital Volunteer, which allows them to not only observe, but also gain hands- on experience in their selected area(s). Becoming a hospital Volunteer allows students to comprehend daily tasks of an occupapon in a secure and controlled environment.
