2017 YOU&I CAMPAIGN IMPACT REPORT
HELLO! Nearly 3,000 employees and volunteers came together to fund 24 passion projects across the INTEGRIS system in 2017, showing that together YOU&I are strong. BECAUSE OF YOUR GENEROSITY, LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF PATIENT LIVES HAVE ALREADY BEEN IMPROVED - AND YOUR IMPACT IS JUST GETTING STARTED. The pages within this impact report share just a glimpse of the good you ve spurred by joining our generosity-fueled movement. We hope you leave inspired by the power of your collective philanthropy. THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO YOU&I.
SINCE YOU&I LAUNCHED IN 2012, LOOK WHAT WE VE DONE TOGETHER. 5,657 $3.16M YOU&I DONORS DOLLARS RAISED 150,000+ LIVES IMPACTED BY YOU&I PROJECTS
2017 YOU&I CAMPAIGN IMPACT REPORT BURN CARDIAC MONITOR OVERVIEW STATION FOR BURN CENTER ACUTE CARE NURSING STATION YOU&I funded cardiac monitoring of our acute burn patients. Having this equipment on our floor (instead of just via central monitoring) allows for us to have an even quicker response should a heart arrhythmia occur. Moments before central monitoring called a code overhead, our care team saw the code happen on the new monitoring system and we were able to provide assistance to the ICU team immediately. Your philanthropy is advancing the way we provide critical care to some of our most fragile patients. YOUR IMPACT: 100+ BURN PATIENTS ANNUALLY
THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO YOU&I! Patients impated by the YOU&I Care Coordination project CARE COORDINATION YOU&I donors funded crucial assistance to some of the most at-risk and underserved patients in our community. The care coordination program supports patients in developing a path back to healing. YOU&I donors purchased medications and durable medical equipment needed for patients when they transition home from the hospital. Without donor funding, these patients would simply not be able to continue improving their health independently and may continue to use the Emergency Department and the hospitals to meet their basic healthcare needs. Because this program provides very customized care to each patient, here s several examples of the specific funding your donations provided already this year: Medications Rollators (rolling walker with seat and compartment) Diabetic off-loading shoes Nebulizers and pulse oximeters Blood Pressure Cuffs Scales Locking Pill Planners Meet some of the patients YOU&I impacted through Care Coordination at
BRINGS INTEGRIS VOLUNTEERS AND EMPLOYEES TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE PASSION & GENEROSITY. TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG. We celebrate the incredible combined $225,000 matching gift commitment from our seven beloved volunteer auxiliaries across the INTEGRIS system during the 2017 YOU&I Campaign. GROVE VOLUNTEER MATCH $10,000 ENID VOLUNTEER MATCH $10,000 MIAMI VOLUNTEER MATCH $5,000 Waymond Blanton INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center Volunteer BAPTIST VOLUNTEER MATCH $150,000 SOUTHWEST VOLUNTEER MATCH $30,000 EDMOND VOLUNTEER MATCH $10,000 YUKON VOLUNTEER MATCH $10,000 These gifts matched employee 2017 YOU&I gifts dollar-for-dollar and exponentially grew our impact across the state. Thank You!
TRANSPLANT NZTI EDUCATION ROOMS YOU&I donors are building a place for patients to consult with our caregiver team about their upcoming transplant or recent transplant. This new space, located in Building C of the IBMC campus, will serve every transplant patient by providing a comfortable place for transplant education. The construction of the room is underway with plans to finish this fiscal year. New drywall is in place, and flooring is being leveled with fresh concrete. IMPACT: HUNDREDS OF PATIENTS & FAMILIES EACH YEAR
2017 YOU&I CAMPAIGN IMPACT REPORT NURSING PEDIATRIC SIMULATION MANIKIN We celebrate YOU&I donors who gave to nursing and funded a new high fidelity pediatric simulation manikin this year. This manikin will allow us to conduct interdisciplinary clinical simulation drills to practice working effectively as a team on a pediatric simulated patient. The result will ensure early recognition and appropriate response to impending pediatric clinical emergencies. IMPACT: 4,000 CLINICAL PROVIDERS AND THE PATIENTS THEY SERVE!
THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO YOU&I! MENTAL HEALTH SPENCER CAMPUS IMPROVEMENTS YOU&I donors are making a difference at the Children s unit at INTEGRIS Mental Health Spencer. While a full renovation of flooring throughout the unit is in progress, there have been electronic items purchased that we would not have had funding for had it not been for YOU&I. In addition to the indoor improvements underway, the outdoor spaces have also benefited from YOU&I funding. Newly added shade sails have made the play areas much more fun and the kids will be able to play outside when it would otherwise be too hot in the summer. IMPACT: 1,000+ KIDS EACH YEAR
2017 YOU&I CAMPAIGN IMPACT REPORT PEDIATRICS CUSTOM GOWNS & PILLOWCASES FOR PEDIATRIC PATIENTS While the custom hospital gown project is still in its advanced planning stages for implementation, the colorful pillowcase project is continuing to elicit smiles throughout the halls of INTEGRIS Children s at Baptist Medical Center. Every child admitted to the unit receives their choice of one of the fun pillowcases funded by YOU&I and lovingly sewn by our volunteers. IMPACT: 1,000 S OF CHILDREN EACH YEAR
THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO YOU&I! PROJECT: YOU&I AEDS FOR INTEGRIS IMG CLINICS Heart attacks can happen at any time with more than 400,000 sudden cardiac arrests occurring outside of hospitals in the U.S. every year. Requested by popular demand, the 2017 Project: YOU&I launches a multi-year YOU&I campaign effort to raise enough funds to add AEDs at all INTEGRIS Medical Group (IMG) clinics. With nearly 60 clinics across the state, this project will become one of the most ambitious and visible impacts in YOU&I history - and holds the potential to save lives. An official timeline is still in development, with plans to begin installing the first phase of donor-funded AEDs in select IMG clinics by mid IMPACT: 1,000 S OF PATIENTS AND STAFF AT IMG CLINICS ACROSS THE STATE EVERY DAY WHAT IS AN AED? An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest.
2017 YOU&I CAMPAIGN IMPACT REPORT CANCER HOME AWAY FROM HOME YOU&I donors launched a program to assist patients who travel more than 50 miles to receive active cancer treatment like chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. Home Away from Home covers up to 10 days of lodging at a conveniently located, furnished apartment. The first 10 days are critical because many patients staying beyond 10 days will have access to other charitable programs to assist with lodging. The beauty of this program is to help stand in the gap to provide continuity for cancer patients creating a true home away from home. The Home Away from Home program officially launched in January 2018 and has already served multiple cancer patients. The program will expand rapidly in the months ahead we plan to help more than 100 cancer patients in our first year of the program. IMPACT: MORE THAN 100 CANCER PATIENTS ANNUALLY
THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO YOU&I! New gliders and interactive learning environments at Children s Place CHILDREN S PLACE NURTURING THE HEART & MIND OF YOUNG CHILDREN Thanks to YOU&I donors, Children s Place added safe gliding rocking chairs for all areas of the program. Donations also enhanced our learning environment for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and helped us meet the newly implemented NAEYC requirements in this developmental area as we seek national re-accreditation in All classrooms now have age and size appropriate sensory tables and a selection of developmentally appropriate STEM related activities. IMPACT: 300 CHILDREN, 50 TEACHERS, 50 PARENT/ GUARDIANS, 10 DEVELOPMENTAL THERAPISTS
2017 YOU&I CAMPAIGN IMPACT REPORT HOSPICE FURNISHINGS FOR PATIENT FAMILY SPACES Through YOU&I donors, the INTEGRIS Hospice House is able to replace all of the original 2006 furniture: foyer chairs, a side table, dining room table and chairs. This original furniture was not commercial grade and is showing significant wear. The new furniture is commercial grade and will hold up longer and compliment the current décor in color and size. In addition, new outdoor furniture will provide adults a place to sit when children are in the playground. The replacement of the broken patio table and chairs in the Serenity Garden provides adequate seating. All furniture has been ordered and is expected to arrive soon! IMPACT: APPROXIMATELY 700 PATIENTS AND 1,400 FAMILY MEMBERS ANNUALLY Samples of selected furnishings - coming soon to Hospice House, thanks to YOU&I!
THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO YOU&I! HEART NEW MONITORING EQUIPMENT YOU&I Heart donors funded a Scottcare telemetry monitoring system at ISMC. This equipment has improved our ability to provide cardiac rehab services to a greater number of people. We have been able to achieve better clinical outcomes, while seeing a greater number of patients. This equates to a patient having a healthier heart, a more enjoyable quality of life and living longer. We can now monitor telemetry and cardiac rehab exercise for 16 patients at one time versus 12. We can alter exercise prescriptions more rapidly and provide instant feedback to our patients. We have so many patients who have expressed benefiting from the outpatient cardiac rehab program which heavily involves the utilization of the Scottcare monitoring system. A recent patient shared that, after completing our cardiac monitoring program he is now running at the age of 70 years old and had never run before. He was told by his doctor that he is now an athlete! IMPACT: APPROXIMATELY 3,500 HEART PATIENTS ANNUALLY
2017 YOU&I CAMPAIGN IMPACT REPORT NEUROMUSCULAR SPEECH COMMUNICATION DEVICES Funding has become a major challenge in all areas of medicine. Often the time it takes to get a communication device for neuromuscular patients can be as much as 6-12 months, if it is approved by their insurer. Thanks to YOU&I donors, we can purchase these devices immediately providing an instant impact for our patients. Recently, an ALS patient with little financial resources began losing her ability to speak and communicate with her family. She had been using her cell phone to text notes, but using her fingers became more challenging with the progression of ALS. Using the communication device has opened up her ability to communicate more than just a few words at time. It has drastically improved her quality of life. IMPACT: 10 NEUROMUSCULAR PATIENTS THIS YEAR
REHABILITATION TRANSFER CARS Thanks to YOU&I donors, we now have a transfer car inside our therapy gyms at inpatient Jim Thorpe rehab on both the Baptist and Southwest campuses. The transfer car allows the therapists to incorporate the practice of getting in and out of a car multiple times during their treatment sessions without having to go outside or coordinating with family members to bring a car for their practice. IMPACT: 1,000+ REHABILITATION PATIENTS EACH YEAR
2017 YOU&I CAMPAIGN IMPACT REPORT PASTORAL CARE WHAT EVERY PASTOR SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HEALTHCARE YOU&I Pastoral Care donors funded monthly continuing education training for clergy, clinical staff and social workers. Philanthropy allowed us to purchase quality programs and contract quality speakers to address the issues that clergy face. For the first six months, we have welcomed more than 400 attendees to these seminars. We also had 43 people attend smaller focused group education events. We hope to reach the same amount for the last half of this year. In October, we had a special guest speaker share about mental illness and the church s response. After the program, several local pastors approached INTEGRIS Pastoral Care to seek more information. They had been totally unaware of the mental health issues their parishioners faced. Through this program, they are now able to recognize mental health issues and better care for those parishioners. IMPACT: 400+ CLERGY & CLINICAL STAFF
THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO YOU&I! STANLEY HUPFELD ACADEMY (SHA) NEW PLAYGROUND & SECURITY CAMERAS The generous donations from 2017 YOU&I donors to SHA allowed us to purchase playground equipment and fitness stations for the school grounds. This equipment draws the neighborhood children and their families onto our campus and creates a space where they can spend time together and socialize as a neighborhood community in a positive and safe environment. Most of the school s playground equipment was rusty metal, so OKC Public Schools deemed it unsafe and hauled it off this year leaving very little on our playground. The new equipment is truly a blessing to our students and staff, and to the surrounding community. Additionally, we were so fortunate to be able to replace the school s outdated security camera system. This school-wide system has increased the sense of safety and security for all, while better protecting students, staff, the school s facility and precious resources. IMPACT: OVER 1,000 PEOPLE VISIT OUR SCHOOL CAMPUS EACH WEEK.
PASSIONS IN PROGRESS! Your YOU&I philanthropy set the wheels in motion for passions across the INTEGRIS system. Our care teams are focused on fulfilling all passion projects and putting your gifts to work impacting lives.
